Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh: Long Thanh Airport must be built quickly and ensure quality

Reporting to the National Assembly delegation, Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said: Currently, all project packages are being constructed simultaneously on the entire construction site in the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the wind and storm", "3 shifts, 4 crews", construction "through holidays, through Tet, through days off".

In the bidding packages, the consortium of contractors mobilized hundreds of construction teams with nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, workers, and about 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the basic goal of completing the project before December 19, 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 as required by the Prime Minister .

To date, the total project implementation volume has reached more than 52.5% of the contract value, the overall progress is following the plan. In particular, many important packages are committed to shortening the progress by 3-6 months compared to the original contract, demonstrating the high determination of the investor and contractors.

Faced with the weather challenge of this year's early and prolonged rainy season, directly affecting underground items such as tunnels, drainage systems, and roadbeds, ACV has proactively adjusted construction methods, increased manpower and machinery, and made the most of sunny days to make up for the delayed progress.

Regarding the construction of runway No. 2, ACV representative said: The project will start construction at the end of May 2025 and is expected to be basically completed in sync with the entire project. Currently, at the construction site, the joint venture contractor is simultaneously implementing many construction steps for the foundation, foundation, and drainage system.

For the passenger terminal project, more than 95% of the rough construction work has been completed. The central steel roof has reached its completion level since April 2025. The roofing system, skylight, glass wall, MEP (electricity, water, air conditioning) are being deployed simultaneously. The goal is to complete the construction and architecture before December 19, 2025 for technical flights, and hand over the site for equipment installation from the end of 2025.

Speaking at the project site, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh assessed: Currently, the construction items of the Long Thanh Airport Project have clearly taken shape. Emphasizing the need to ensure the basic progress requirements to complete the project before December 19, 2025, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh requested that investors and contractors make more efforts to speed up the progress of the items, while ensuring the quality of the project.
