At the seminar, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said that through studying experiences in Asian countries, it was shown that many journals from countries in this region such as Japan, Korea, and Singapore are included in the ISI/Scopus list. Notably, Korea has over 300 journals in the Scopus list.

According to the Deputy Minister, developing domestic scientific journals to integrate with those of countries in the region and the world is an important task. In the future, scientists can publish articles in domestic journals but with international quality and standards.

The Deputy Minister informed that there are currently 32 scientific journals under the management of higher education institutions under the Ministry of Education and Training, not including member schools of regional universities. In the past, the Ministry has supported 18 journals to develop plans to meet ACI standards, and 2 journals to meet Scopus standards.

Sharing at the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies - JABES) JABES, formerly the Journal of Economic Development, is a scientific journal in the field of economics and business, including two versions that follow the common practices of international journals: Vietnamese version (JABES-V) and English version (JABES-E).

Based on the specific situation of JABES, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai presented 6 important steps to prepare for official indexing in WoS and Scopus.

First, prioritize investment in an English version of the journal that is complete according to international practices and has a history of at least 10 years when it has academic prestige in the country. Next, the name of the journal must be international, not specific to a specific organization or country, and must not overlap with any other journal name.

The journal must meet the core standards of WoS and Scopus, and must be associated with the online platform of an international publisher.

In addition, the quality of articles and recognition are gradually improved to meet the criteria of quantity and quality of articles of the journal. Finally, it is necessary to analyze the current status of the journal with WoS and Scopus criteria to ensure that it exceeds the required threshold and prepare a proposal for review.
