Outrage over beating and stripping of 9th grade female student's shirt despite victim's pleas

Quang Trach District Police, Quang Binh Province, said on April 10 that they are verifying the case of a female student being beaten, stripped naked and humiliated in a video clip that occurred in this district. Currently, the people involved have been summoned by the police to give statements.

According to the clip circulating on social media, the incident occurred in the evening at the beach of Quang Phu commune (Quang Trach). In the 2 minute 35 second clip, a female student was continuously beaten by two women, dragged by her hair, pinned to the ground, kicked and stomped on the head repeatedly, and slapped repeatedly on the face.

These two people also stripped the victim's shirt, filmed the clip and posted it on social media.

In the clip, the female student being beaten kept begging but was still repeatedly slapped in the face and kicked in the body and head.

At the time of the incident, a group of men stood around watching, some even cheered on the beating and humiliation of the victim.

After the clip was spread on social networks, Quang Trach District Police quickly began an investigation.

Initial investigation determined that one of the two people who assaulted the female student was a student. One of the two people was from Quang Phu commune, the other was from Quang Hop commune (same district as Quang Trach).

The female student who was beaten and humiliated is a 9th grader living in Quang Chau commune, in the same district. The incident took place on the coast of Quang Phu commune.

The group of men watching and cheering were identified as including some students from Quang Phu and Canh Duong communes, some of whom had dropped out of school.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Minh, head of Quang Trach District Police, said the district police are continuing to verify and clarify the related subjects and proceed to compile records and strictly handle them.

"Any act of distributing , sharing, or posting the above video clip will be strictly handled according to the law," said Lieutenant Colonel Minh.
