After the storm, due to the rising water level of the Bui River, most of the fields were severely flooded. Many rice fields were submerged in water, forcing people to harvest early to reduce damage.

Mr. Dinh Cong Duyet (My Luong commune, Chuong My, Hanoi) said that out of 1 acre of rice field, 7 acres were flooded.

"The flooded fields forced my family to harvest the young rice to salvage what little they could, otherwise we would lose everything," Mr. Duyet shared.

Despite heavy rain and many rice fields flooded more than 1 meter deep and covered with mud, soldiers from the Vocational Training and Education Center 1 (Mobile Police Command) still helped people harvest rice.

Captain Le Minh Thanh, Center for Professional Training and Vocational Education 1, said that moving in deep water is very difficult. The reinforced officers and soldiers decided to put the rice on buoys or boats... and then push it to shore to reduce the weight and increase productivity.

Ms. Cao Thi Nam (My Luong commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi) said that having to cut the trees too young like now only leaves about 1/10 of the yield.

"Even though we know the yield is low, we still have to harvest the rice, otherwise the rice will sprout and spoil. With the help of the Mobile Police, our hardship is somewhat reduced," said Ms. Nam.
