Ideal places to watch the April 30 parade in Ho Chi Minh City

The parade started from the Le Duan-Nguyen Binh Khiem intersection, moved past the Independence Palace and then passed through four streets in District 1, allowing tourists and residents to easily observe from many angles.

According to the Organizing Committee, the national parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day will officially take place at 6:30 a.m. on April 30, 2025, at the same time as the celebration.

According to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the celebration will include a 21-gun salute to the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In addition, there will be an air force welcome flight (expected 13 helicopters; 9 Yak-130 aircraft; 7 Su-30MK2 aircraft); a parade of model cars with the National Emblem - Party flag, national flag - a car carrying the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh - a model car symbolizing the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South; a parade of military and militia forces; a parade of police forces; and a parade of the masses.

The event will begin at 6:30 a.m. on April 30. The forces will depart from the intersection of Le Duan and Nguyen Binh Khiem streets, moving through the main stage in front of the Reunification Hall.

At the end of this schedule, the forces will split into 4 directions and move towards the assembly point.

Residents and visitors can choose a location to observe on many main streets of District 1 or attend the celebration in the central area to watch the parade through 20 large screens including Le Duan Street (6 screens), Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Le Loi (3 screens), Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Dinh Chieu (2 screens).

In addition, people can watch the celebration, parade, and march on television and social media platforms.

Below are details of the route, suggested viewing locations for the parade and march.

Direction 1: After passing the Reunification Hall, the forces move along the route Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Le Loi-Nguyen Thi Nghia-Phu Dong Thien Vuong 6-way intersection-Cach Mang Thang 8. The forces in this direction will gather at Tao Dan Park.

A total of 9 large LED screens will be installed on the moving route of direction 1 for you to monitor the entire process.

- Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Le Loi intersection

The first suggested spot to observe the event is at the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Le Loi intersection with a wide walkway and clear view, convenient for following the parade teams. This is the transition area, where the parade appears in neat formation.

The location is near the city center so it is very crowded, so visitors need to come early to choose a good spot.

This location is close to shopping malls such as Saigon Centre, Saigon Square, Takashimaya, and the Sedona Suites hotel located on the upper floors of the Saigon Centre building. From here, you can have a panoramic view of Le Loi and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets.

- Nguyen Thi Nghia Street - Phu Dong Thien Vuong Intersection

Phu Dong Thien Vuong 6-way intersection is the meeting point of major roads such as Pham Hong Thai, Nguyen Thi Nghia, Le Thi Rieng, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Nguyen Trai and Ly Tu Trong. This area has many shops, with wide streets and airy sidewalks, creating an ideal space for visitors to observe the parade.

Visitors can get here from Ben Thanh metro station, walk about 500m along Pham Ngu Lao-Nguyen Thi Nghia route to the 6-way intersection.

Public areas here have sidewalks on Nguyen Thi Nghia or Cach Mang Thang Tam streets, where visitors can watch the parade heading towards Tao Dan Park.

- August Revolution - Tao Dan Park

From Phu Dong intersection on Cach Mang Thang Tam street, the forces moved about 600 meters to the assembly point at Tao Dan park. This is a green area with cool air, but only the last part of the parade can be watched.

Visitors can stand on the sidewalk of Cach Mang Thang Tam Street or the edge of Tao Dan Park to observe the forces.

Direction 2: After passing the Reunification Hall, the forces move in the direction of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Le Thanh Ton-Nguyen Hue-Me Linh Roundabout. The forces in this direction gather at Bach Dang Wharf.

On the moving route of direction 2, a total of 4 large LED screens will be installed for you to monitor the entire process.

- Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street intersects Le Thanh Ton Street

The sidewalk section on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street near the intersection with Le Thanh Ton Street is an ideal place to watch the parade approaching Nguyen Hue Walking Street.

Along Le Thanh Ton Street, visitors can choose to stay at hotels such as Nhat Ha Lavish Hotel. Restaurants such as Eck Saigon open from 7:30 am, ready to serve visitors' needs.

- Nguyen Hue walking street

The forces will march along Nguyen Hue walking street, near iconic structures such as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee building and the statue of President Ho Chi Minh.

Visitors can enjoy the parade from the park next to the monument, the square area, or on the sidewalks on both sides of Nguyen Hue Street.

This street is also home to many famous hotels such as Rex, The Reverie, Sheraton, Kim Do and Oscar.

Visitors can watch the parade and marching activities from above at the cafes located in the apartment building at 42 Nguyen Hue. Another observation spot is the Starbucks cafe on the ground floor of the Saigon Garden building at 99 Nguyen Hue, open from 6:30 am.

- Me Linh Square-Bach Dang Wharf Roundabout

The second parade ended at Bach Dang Wharf after the procession passed through the Me Linh Square roundabout from Nguyen Hue walking street. At Bach Dang Wharf, 15 cannons were set up to fire a salute on the morning of April 30.

The area is home to several high-profile hotels, including the Renaissance, The Majestic Liberty Central and Hilton Saigon, with sweeping views of the Me Linh Square roundabout and Bach Dang Wharf. Visitors can also enjoy views of the cannon firing and the military parade from the cafes at the Seaprodex building at the top of Dong Khoi Street.

To get to Bach Dang Wharf, visitors can take the metro and get off at Ba Son Station, only about 700 meters from the wharf. Ba Son Bridge, which connects District 1 with Thu Duc City, is also an ideal location to watch the parade and admire the fighter jets flying in the sky.

Direction 3: After passing the Reunification Hall, the forces move along the route of Le Duan - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Dinh Tien Hoang. The forces in this direction gather at Hoa Lu Stadium.

A total of 5 large LED screens will be installed on the moving route of direction 3 for you to monitor the entire process.

- Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Nguyen Dinh Chieu-beginning of Dinh Tien Hoang street

The road is about 1 km long with wide sidewalks, convenient for tourists and locals to admire the parade. Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street is located about 500-800m from Turtle Lake. Tourists can easily reach Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street from Turtle Lake by going to Pham Ngoc Thach Street.

Some intersections with wide sidewalks suitable for standing and watching include Pasteur-Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Hai Ba Trung-Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Phung Khac Khoan-Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Mac Dinh Chi-Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

In addition, on this street there is also the Three O'clock cafe open all night, allowing visitors to comfortably enjoy and watch the parades and marches from here.

- Dinh Tien Hoang Street - Hoa Lu Stadium

Observers can choose a location on both sides of Dinh Tien Hoang Street or sit at Highland Coffee Shop right at the corner of Nguyen Dinh Chieu-Dinh Tien Hoang intersection, which opens from 7am.

Direction 4: After passing the Reunification Hall, the forces move along the route of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Hai Ba Trung. The forces in this direction gather at Le Van Tam Park.

A total of 5 large LED screens will be installed on the moving route of direction 4 for you to monitor the entire process.

People and tourists can stand at major intersections to watch the parade pass by.

The first interesting place to look is the intersection of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Dien Bien Phu, which has a wide sidewalk. Other intersections include Pasteur-Dien Bien Phu, Pham Ngoc Thach-Dien Bien Phu and Dien Bien Phu-Hai Ba Trung.

After watching the parade and march, visitors can walk from Le Van Tam Park to Tan Dinh Church, stop by Tan Dinh Market and relax at cafes along Hai Ba Trung Street./.

* Since the events start at 6:30 a.m., it is recommended to arrive 1 to 3 hours early to have a good viewing position. It is recommended to use means of transport such as walking, metro, bus or technology car, as the central area will prohibit private vehicles.

* Tourists and residents can park their vehicles at Le Van Tam Park, Tao Dan Park, Vincom Dong Khoi, Turtle Lake, the parking lot next to Nguyen Hue walking street, Diamond Plaza and Thanh Nien Cultural House.
