In Vietnam, Nestlé is one of the pioneering enterprises with initiatives to reduce emissions and protect resources. In particular, design improvements aim to eliminate unnecessary packaging, reduce the use of virgin plastic, and replace it with environmentally friendly materials.

Some of Nestlé Vietnam’s initiatives include using recycled PE plastic for product packaging, switching from disposable plastic straws to FSC-certified paper straws for all ready-to-drink products. Nestlé Vietnam is also innovating to use single-layer packaging to make recycling easier.

In production, the application of the circular economy model has helped all Nestlé Vietnam factories achieve the goal of "Zero landfill waste" since 2015. Nestlé Vietnam also carries out many communication activities, raises awareness and changes consumer behavior, including: Deploying a series of programs such as "Say no to disposable plastic", "Collect and classify used packaging"...

Thirty years of development in Vietnam has been a journey of close connection between Nestlé and Vietnamese consumers. From quality products that meet nutritional needs, to programs that create shared values, improving the quality of life for families and communities, every step of Nestlé Vietnam is aimed at contributing to building a more sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future.

Since 2011, the NESCAFÉ Plan has supported more than 21,000 coffee farming households to practice sustainable coffee cultivation according to international 4C standards, helping farmers reduce 40-60% of irrigation water, reduce 20% of chemical fertilizers, and increase income by 30-150% by applying a reasonable intercropping model, as well as reducing carbon emissions per kilogram of green coffee harvested.

The program also trained more than 467,000 farmers, supported the provision of more than 86 million drought- and pest-resistant coffee seedlings, contributed to coffee tree replanting, and improved the quality of Vietnamese coffee beans.

In order to improve health, nutrition, and encourage a healthy lifestyle, Nestlé has developed and implemented many programs, typically the Active Vietnam program (Activ Vietnam), to encourage Vietnamese children to be more active and participate in more physical activities.

Over the past 5 years, Nestlé Vietnam's activities and movements have attracted more than 20.7 million children in 49 provinces and cities to participate in physical activities. At the same time, each year, Nestlé also provides more than 4.9 million nutritional portions supplemented with micronutrients in accordance with nutritional recommendations for children.

Responding to the Government's National Target Program on New Rural Development, in coordination with the Women's Union in the provinces, Nestlé Vietnam launched the program "Nestlé accompanies women", aiming to help women in rural areas improve their knowledge of nutrition, take care of their health and that of their families, gradually increase their income, and take control of their lives.

Since 2020, the program has been continuously expanded to support rural women to overcome economic barriers, catch up with digital transformation and create sustainable livelihoods. To date, the program has been present in 18 provinces and cities, contributing to increasing the income of more than 25,000 women, improving the lives of nearly 2 million households.
