Ransomware is a type of malware attack characterized by taking control of a device and its locally stored data and holding it for ransom.

In Vietnam, many serious incidents have occurred, targeting large enterprises and organizations such as VNDirect, PVOIL, Vietnam Post and medical and educational facilities... causing significant damage.

According to a report by the National Cyber Security Association, 46.15% of agencies and businesses said they had been attacked at least once in 2024, of which 6.77% were attacked frequently.

According to the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) - Ministry of Public Security, there have been more than 74,000 cyber attack warnings from key units alone, including 83 targeted APT attack campaigns.

According to experts, once data is encrypted, there is no way to decode it, the operations of agencies and businesses are interrupted, and especially reputation is affected.

The National Cyber Security Association recommends that to ensure cybersecurity, organizations need to conduct regular system vulnerability reviews, including comprehensive scanning and assessment of applications, software and network devices, and timely security patch updates.

Conduct 24/7 network security monitoring to detect early signs of abnormalities. Develop and maintain a clear incident response plan, ensure regular data backup and recovery, and minimize damage when incidents occur.
