Regarding these problems, the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the Authority and units of the Ministry of Public Security will continue to coordinate with relevant units to find solutions to remove these problems.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, since February 2023, following the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has deployed biometric authentication combined with electronic chip-based citizen identification authentication when citizens board flights at Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong). By April 2023, the unit will continue to deploy at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi). From May 13, the pilot will be implemented at Phu Bai International Airport (Thua Thien Hue). By June 1, the pilot will be officially implemented at all domestic airports.

On domestic flights, passengers can use their level 2 electronic identification account on the VN-eID application to check in at the check-in counter; boarding gate - aviation security checkpoint and departure gate checkpoint.

With this process, when checking in, passengers only need to present their chip-embedded ID card, scan it into the system to identify the passenger, helping to speed up the procedures. The pilot implementation period of using level 2 identification accounts at all airports nationwide will last until the end of August.

After this pilot, the units will summarize and draw lessons, creating a basis for applying the benefits of citizen identification and electronic identification accounts in administrative and civil transactions. For passengers checking in for flights, electronic authentication is expected to create benefits in terms of shortening time, minimizing security risks and improving airport management in the transitional era.
