Warm drops of blood of love

The image of volunteers rushing to the Central Highlands General Hospital regardless of day or night to register for voluntary blood donation has become familiar. These timely and humane acts have lit the warm flame of humanity, bringing faith and life to many patients.

One late night in early August, at the Central Highlands General Hospital, Chieu Tuan Khanh (6 years old, Lam Dong province) fell into a state of severe thrombocytopenia due to dengue fever, requiring an emergency platelet transfusion. Khanh's family hurriedly mobilized relatives and friends to donate, but no one met the requirements.

In the urgent moment, the family was instructed to contact the Central Highlands Blood Donation Club (CLB) for support. Upon receiving the information, Nguyen Anh Tu, a student of class 21DA1 (Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy) immediately went to the hospital to donate platelets despite the pouring rain. The platelet donation lasted until nearly 2 a.m. and fortunately, that precious, timely source of platelets helped Khanh overcome the danger.

Mr. Chieu Van Tan, the patient's father, emotionally expressed: "The act of Tu and the Club not only saved my child's life, but also helped us believe that life is full of good people, ready to help others."

Upon receiving news that a patient needed an urgent platelet transfusion, student Nguyen Anh Tu registered to donate platelets in the middle of the night.

With the belief that “happiness is giving”, recently, many volunteers have registered to donate blood and platelets to save people in emergency situations, regardless of time or distance. Like the story of Chau Hai My (Lam Dong province) and Nguyen Thi Nu (Dak Lieng commune, Dak Lak province). Previously, Chau Hai My and Nguyen Thi Nu were pregnant women with rare blood type B Rh-. During childbirth, the two sisters received timely support with valuable blood units, along with the dedication of the medical team, helping them to have a safe delivery. Realizing the value of sharing, both sisters are more aware of the importance of donating blood, especially with rare blood types.

In mid-August 2025, upon hearing the news that a female patient had undergone surgery for a cyst and needed a rare blood transfusion of B Rh- blood, Hai My and her husband immediately traveled more than 100km to the Central Highlands General Hospital in the hope of helping the patient in time. Nguyen Thi Nu and her husband also traveled more than 50km by motorbike to the hospital. While waiting for his wife to donate blood, Nu's husband saw that a 1-year-old baby there had Thalassemia (congenital hemolytic anemia) and needed blood, while the hospital's blood reserve was scarce, so he immediately registered to volunteer to donate blood.

Not only healthy people, many special fates also carry within them the desire to share their blood. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hien (Krong Nang commune, Dak Lak province) had a chemical accident, losing both hands, thanks to timely blood from anonymous donors, Mr. Hien overcame the critical condition.

With a grateful heart, recently, when he saw the information calling for blood donations, he took a service bus from Krong Nang commune to the Central Highlands General Hospital with the desire to contribute to helping patients. However, due to the effects of the old accident, Mr. Hien could not participate in donating blood.

Although he cannot donate blood directly, the desire to share and save lives still burns within him. Mr. Hien shared that he is currently researching the procedure to register as an organ donor, with the hope that one day he will be able to help others.

Nguyen Thi Nu and her husband traveled more than 50 km to donate blood to save lives.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, the image of a student rushing to the hospital in the middle of a rainy night to donate platelets, a young man with incomplete hands and a desire to give, to couples traveling hundreds of kilometers to donate blood to save lives... all have created a touching picture of humanity. That noble act not only brings life to patients but also spreads the spirit of sharing and kindness in everyday life.
