University benchmark scores 2025: Many majors have nearly 10 points/subject, even valedictorians can fail

Up to now, most universities across the country have announced the admission scores for 2025. According to records, many professions have admission scores ranging from 29 to the absolute level of 30/30.

Specifically, there are 6 majors at 4 schools that recorded absolute benchmark scores including: Medicine (Military Medical Academy), International Relations ( Military Science Academy), English Pedagogy and Chinese Pedagogy (University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), English Pedagogy and Chinese Pedagogy (University of Foreign Languages, Hue University).

Close to the absolute score mark is the Computer Science advanced program of the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City with 29.92 points, meaning candidates must achieve more than 9.97 points/subject to be admitted.

Next is the History - Geography Pedagogy major of the University of Education , Vietnam National University, Hanoi with 29.84 points, meaning candidates must achieve more than 9.94 points/subject to be admitted.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) major of the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University has a benchmark score of 29.6 points, meaning candidates must score more than 9.86 points/subject to be admitted.

The English Pedagogy Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also set a record for the school's benchmark score, reaching 29.57 points.

Around the 29-point mark are the advanced program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and the Computer Science program of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (29.39 and 29.19 points, respectively); Chemistry Pedagogy and Literature Pedagogy of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (29.38 and 29.07 points, respectively).

This year, Hanoi National University of Education leads in benchmark scores for History Education with 29.06 points. This is also the only major with a benchmark score above 29 points.

With the above standard scores, even the national top students of block A01 (29.75) and D01 (29 points), if they do not have priority and incentive points, will still fail their wishes.

This year, only the Medical and Pharmaceutical school block has a sharp decrease in admission scores compared to last year, the largest decrease of nearly 6 points, recorded at the Preventive Medicine department of Hanoi Medical University (the school takes admission scores from 17-28.7).

The decrease in benchmark scores for this major was predicted by experts, as the Math exam was considered difficult. Meanwhile, Chemistry and Biology not only decreased in test scores but also in the number of candidates taking the exam, leading to a decrease in the recruitment source for the B00 block.
