
Taking place less than a year after the State visit to China by General Secretary To Lam, this State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping is an important foreign political event of the two Parties and two countries, of strategic significance, with long-term impacts on the development of Vietnam-China relations in the context of both countries entering a new era, a new era of development. This is Comrade Xi Jinping's fourth visit to Vietnam as the highest leader of the Party and State of China and the second visit during the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; especially taking place during the "Year of Humanitarian Exchange", commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025).
On the occasion of the State visit to Vietnam of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam published an article titled "Joining hands to open a new era of development of Vietnam - China friendship" in the People's Daily (China) and General Secretary and President Xi Jinping published an article in the People's Newspaper with the title "Sharing the same aspirations, joining hands to move forward, inheriting the past, writing a new page for the future". In the articles, the leaders of the two countries affirmed their perseverance, consistency and determination to jointly develop the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Community of Shared Future of Vietnam - China with strategic significance, for the happiness of the people of the two countries, for the cause of peace and progress of all mankind.
At noon on April 14, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping arrived in Hanoi, starting a State visit to Vietnam. President Liang Qiang and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu went to Noi Bai International Airport to welcome General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and the high-ranking Chinese delegation. Welcoming General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and the high-ranking Chinese delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were special drum performances by 200 artists from the Drum Festival Art Troupe along with welcoming dances by 54 young women in costumes representing Vietnamese ethnic groups. A large number of Vietnamese people, Chinese people in Vietnam, and officials and staff of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam held flags of the two countries and banners expressing the traditional friendship between the two countries to warmly welcome General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and the high-ranking Chinese delegation.
In his message upon arriving in Vietnam, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping expressed his joy at the start of his visit. "On behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Government and people of China, I would like to extend my warm greetings and best wishes to the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Government and people of Vietnam," General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping emphasized.
During the visit, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. During their lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong, along with the leaders of the two countries, personally built and worked hard to nurture the traditional friendship of “the close friendship between Vietnam and China, both comrades and brothers”, which is increasingly strong and is a valuable asset of the people of the two countries, which needs to be inherited, protected and promoted.
General Secretary To Lam presided over the official welcoming ceremony with the highest ritual for welcoming a Head of State. 21 cannon salutes were fired from Thang Long Imperial Citadel during the welcoming ceremony. After the solemn welcoming ceremony, General Secretary To Lam had a small meeting and talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at the Party Central Committee Headquarters. After the talks, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping reviewed and listened to the introduction of 45 cooperation agreements in many fields signed between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries, demonstrating the rich and comprehensive achievements that both sides have achieved during this visit.
President Luong Cuong met and hosted General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
On the evening of April 14, at the International Convention Center, Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong hosted a solemn reception to welcome General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and the high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State on a State visit to Vietnam.
At the talks and meetings, the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping leading a high-ranking Chinese delegation to pay a State visit to Vietnam right on the occasion of the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; believing that the visit will become a new milestone in the history of the friendly relations between the two Parties, two countries and two peoples, contributing to further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, promoting the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping said that choosing Vietnam as the first destination of his first overseas trip this year fully demonstrated the great importance that the Chinese Party and State attach to the China-Vietnam relationship and the deep affection between the two countries; affirming that through the visit, he is ready to discuss in depth with General Secretary To Lam and key Vietnamese leaders on directions and measures to consolidate the tradition of friendship, define the vision for building a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future of strategic significance in the direction of "6 more", together moving forward steadily, contributing to the human community.
In a warm, friendly, sincere and frank atmosphere, the leaders of the two Parties and countries had in-depth discussions on the situation of each Party and country, the relationship between the two Parties and countries, and regional and international issues of mutual concern. On this occasion, the leaders of the two Parties and countries issued a Joint Statement emphasizing the need to continue to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, along with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, viewed the photo exhibition “75 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China”, jointly organized by Vietnam News Agency, Xinhua News Agency and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. General Secretary To Lam respectfully presented General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping with a photo book from Vietnam News Agency, including typical and impressive photos of Xi Jinping’s five visits to Vietnam from 2011 to this visit.
Leaders of the two Parties and two countries attended the Vietnam - China People's Friendship Meeting and the Launching Ceremony of the Red Journey: Youth Research and Study; and attended the Launching Ceremony of the Vietnam - China Railway Cooperation Journey.
Within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, held talks with Comrade Thai Ky, Politburo Standing member, Secretary of the Secretariat, Director of the Central Office of the Communist Party of China.
On the afternoon of April 15, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping left Hanoi, successfully concluding his State visit to Vietnam. Seeing off the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.
The State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping was a great success, marking an important milestone in the history of relations between the two Parties and countries, contributing significantly to promoting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, promoting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance in the new situation, promoting peace, stability, prosperity and development of the region and the world. The two Parties and peoples feel truly happy about the results of the visit.
