Pig herd development in Quang Nam province
In recent years, Quang Nam province has focused on developing pig herds, contributing to improving people's income and improving the quality of the livestock industry. With the advantage of large land area and favorable climate, Quang Nam is gradually becoming one of the localities with strong development in the field of pig farming.
By 2025, Quang Nam province will have a total pig herd of about 1 million, with industrial pig farming and bio-secure pig farming. Large-scale pig farms are being encouraged to invest, especially in applying advanced technology in farming, to minimize disease risks and increase productivity.
To promote pig herd development, Quang Nam provincial authorities have implemented programs to support pig farmers, including training in care techniques, sustainable farming, providing high-quality pig breeds and encouraging people to apply biosafety farming methods.
Some districts such as Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen and Thang Binh currently have a fairly large and stable pig herd, meeting the market demand in the province and exporting to other regions. However, Quang Nam province also faces some challenges in terms of animal feed supply and rising input costs.
To maintain and develop a sustainable pig herd, Quang Nam needs to continue improving infrastructure, supporting pig food processing facilities and building a high-quality Quang Nam pork brand, in order to increase product value and competitiveness in the market, reported the Environmental Economics Magazine.
