Establishment of the Alliance for Research and Training of Semiconductor and Electronics Human Resources

According to Mr. Le Truong Duy, Director of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC C4IR), the semiconductor industry is becoming a strategic pillar of every modern economy .

From artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), cloud computing to defense technology - all depend on microchip design and manufacturing capabilities.

Markets such as the US, EU, South Korea, and Japan have issued national strategies with budgets of hundreds of billions of USD for research and development (R&D) and semiconductor supply chains.

In Vietnam, the semiconductor industry is still in its infancy but is entering a period of transformation.

Leading technology corporations such as Samsung, Amkor, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm have chosen Vietnam as a strategic destination. At the same time, domestic enterprises such as Viettel are also promoting microchip design activities.

This is a golden time for Vietnam to move deeper into the global value chain.

Bridge between businesses and experts

According to Mr. Le Truong Duy, the establishment of the alliance is a strategic step forward, an important bridge, connecting domestic and foreign businesses and experts with state management agencies to build open and practical policies, helping Vietnam proactively integrate into the global supply chain.

HCMC C4IR commits to accompany in strengthening and forming specialized semiconductor research institutes; restructuring key national research and development (R&D) programs, focusing on the semiconductor - electronics field; establishing interdisciplinary and inter-regional R&D alliances...
