Unexpected decision to postpone the announcement of benchmark scores

According to the original plan, the virtual filtering process would end at 4:30 p.m. on August 20, allowing schools to announce their benchmark scores immediately afterward. However, according to the latest document, the Ministry of Education and Training has adjusted and added 4 more virtual filtering rounds, bringing the total number of rounds to 10. This technical process will last until 12:30 p.m. on August 22.

Because of this change, universities will only be allowed to announce benchmark scores at around 5:00 p.m. on August 22, two days later than the schedule previously announced by many schools.

The reason for this decision is said to be to ensure accuracy and fairness for all candidates. 2025 is the first year that colleges participate in the common admission system, and all admission methods are processed simultaneously in the first round.

The complexity of the system also comes from the sudden increase in the number of applications and candidates. Nationwide, there are nearly 850,000 candidates registered with a total of more than 7.6 million applications. Some schools have reported that the virtual filtering system is "messy" and the processing results are "very virtual" in the first days. Faced with this reality, the schools have proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training postpone the time to have more time to review and avoid errors.

Universities' response and reassurance from the Ministry

Immediately after the dispatch, many universities quickly announced the postponement of the announcement of admission scores. Representatives of universities such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, University of Economics and Law, and Nha Trang University all confirmed the postponement to August 22.

In a press release, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son affirmed that the extension of the virtual filtering time is only a "technical extension" for schools to carefully review the data. He affirmed that the deadline for announcing the final benchmark scores is still guaranteed before 5:00 p.m. on August 22, thereby reassuring candidates.

After knowing the results, successful candidates will have until 5:00 p.m. on August 30 to confirm their admission online on the Ministry's system. This is a mandatory step to secure their admission.
