The works submitted for the 2023 Golden Hammer and Sickle Award have great depth and quality, high propaganda effectiveness, sharp refuting the distorted arguments of hostile forces, attracting the attention of the general public and readers.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh speaks at the announcement and awarding ceremony of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023.

On the evening of February 1, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Organizing Committee chaired and coordinated with Nhan Dan Newspaper , Communist Magazine , Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the announcement and award ceremony of the 8th National Press Award on Party Building (named Golden Hammer and Sickle) - 2023.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the rich and vivid reality and good results of the cause of national construction and protection; of the work of Party building and rectification; and the consensus and trust of the people are valuable sources of material and unlimited inspiration for creating high-quality journalistic works.

Through 8 times of organization, the National Press Award on Party building named "Golden Hammer and Sickle" has affirmed its value, attractiveness, and influence on the work of Party building, political system building, and staff building; at the same time, it affirms the profound political awareness, professional ethics, and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers".

The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award have directed the organization to be tight, methodical, scientific and professional under the direction of Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee. Party committees at all levels, ministries, branches and localities have proactively and actively participated and considered participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award as one of the important tasks, at the same time creating a vibrant atmosphere and attracting the attention of all classes of people to the work of Party building, building the contingent of cadres and building the political system. The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is also a forum to express viewpoints, theories, proud history, people's trust and the rich practical activities of the Party.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Party committees and organizations at all levels to focus on leadership, direction, and creating conditions for press agencies and reporters to focus on propagating and reflecting the Party's theoretical values and innovative viewpoints and the determination to build a clean and strong Party. Further increase articles on advanced models, good people, good deeds, and exemplary individuals; new models, good and creative practices; fight to prevent and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation"; prevent and combat corruption, negativity, and waste; fight and refute distorted arguments and wrong viewpoints of hostile forces and reactionary organizations; firmly protect the Party's ideological foundation; further enhance the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award will further promote the results it has achieved, continue to seek innovation and creativity to increasingly spread the strong vitality and positive influence of the Award, contributing to building and rectifying the Party, building the political system and building a clean and strong cadre team; actively and effectively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

Authors and representatives of author groups won the A prize of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023.

The 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023 was launched on February 3, 2023 at the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the 7th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2022.

On March 20, 2023, the Central Organizing Committee issued Plan No. 106-KH/BTCTW on organizing the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023 (with the Award Rules) with many new contents to continue expanding the scope and far-reaching influence of the Award.

By the time of closing the submission of entries for the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023, the Organizing Committee had received a total of 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to 2022 (8.6%). Of these, there were 755 print works, 549 electronic works, 530 television works, 280 radio works and 102 photojournalistic works.

The works participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award this year in central and local press agencies continued to be rich in themes and genres and covered all provinces and cities in the country. Most of the works closely followed hot issues, outstanding events, and key tasks of the political system and the country. Many works deeply reflected the current issues of Party building and rectification. Some works mentioned current pressing issues, with high social criticism and combativeness.

15 collectives were awarded the Excellent Collective Award at the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award Ceremony - 2023.

A new feature in the content of the press works participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award this year is that they vividly and promptly reflect the events and political activities of the Party such as the launch of books by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the mid-term Conference (the Seventh Central Conference) and the resolutions of the Central Executive Committee and the Politburo (term XIII) focusing on leadership and direction in building culture and ethics in the Party, planning the contingent of strategic-level cadres; fighting against the "disease of fear of responsibility" and building a mechanism to protect cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to act for the common good; the work of inspection, supervision and control of power associated with the fight against corruption and negativity; fighting against wrong and distorted views, protecting the Party's ideological foundation and protecting national sovereignty in cyberspace; digital transformation and application of technology in Party work; developing 6 strategic and important socio-economic regions...

Notably, the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023 has the largest number of provincial press agencies submitting television works ever, even including district-level cultural centers, television programs of the Public Security, Military Commands of provinces and private media companies submitting works to participate in the award. Some works have great depth and quality, high propaganda effectiveness, sharply refuting the distorted arguments of bad guys such as when there was an attack on 2 commune headquarters in Dak Lak.

The central press agencies have the strength of having many political works, raising issues that cover the whole country, while the local press is strong in articles reflecting new ways of doing things from the grassroots and good examples, typical of groups and individuals. The content of defending the ideological foundation not only appears in the works of the central press agencies but also in many local newspapers, radio and television stations. Many works after being published and broadcast have attracted the attention of the public and readers. This shows that the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is increasingly spreading strongly.

The final round council met and discussed enthusiastically and democratically, voted by secret ballot, and selected the best works out of 120 works in the final round to award prizes, including 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, 30 Encouragement prizes and 6 Special prizes including: Prize for excellent works on organizing the implementation of the Party Congress Resolution; Prize for excellent works on innovation and improving the quality of political and ideological education work; Prize for excellent works on innovation in the Party's leadership and governing methods; Prize for excellent works on protecting the Party's ideological foundation; Prize for excellent works on fighting against "peaceful evolution"; Prize for excellent works on discovering typical examples in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

The Steering Committee of the Award has considered and decided to select 5 Party members as typical characters in the award-winning press work, including comrades: Po Dan Xinh, Ha Nhi ethnic group, former Party Secretary of Sin Thau commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province; village elder Ksor H Blam, Gia Rai ethnic group, Ia Mo commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai; Lam Khem, Khmer ethnic group in Luong Nghia commune, Long My district, Hau Giang; Mr. Nguyen Van Mai and Ms. Le Thi Cung, a couple with 75 years of Party membership in Quang Phuc commune, Tu Ky district, Hai Duong.

The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Award also decided to reward 1 unit with creative media products and 14 units including the propaganda department, the organizing committee of the Party Committee, the press agency, and the journalists' association with outstanding achievements in organizing, promoting, and responding to the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

At this Award Ceremony, the Award Steering Committee launched the 9th National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) - 2024.
