(HTV) - To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association organized a meeting and exchange with generations of Veterans, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and historical witnesses who participated in the resistance war against America.

The meeting took place in a joyful, proud and emotional atmosphere. This was an opportunity for the previous generations to recall the heroic memories of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 and the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, a brilliant milestone marking the nation's complete victory after many years of resistance.

Leaders' Meeting with Veterans

Attending and sharing at the exchange was comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. The presence of the City's leaders demonstrated the concern, respect and deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City for the great contributions and sacrifices of Veterans, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and historical witnesses.

Colonel Nguyen Van Tau

Half a century has passed since the country was reunited, but the memories of the arduous and heroic years of fighting are still intact in the minds of many people. Hero of the People's Armed Forces - Colonel Nguyen Van Tau, a legendary intelligence officer with the alias Tu Cang, could not help but be moved when recalling the memories of fighting with his comrades and the emotional moments when the country sang the song of victory. He and other veterans shared stories of the close friendship and solidarity and together remembered the heroes who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Honoring outstanding examples in the Veterans Association

Speaking at the meeting, Major Nguyen Dinh Truong, Vietnam Veterans Association, emphasized that the country's steady development over the past 50 years is a strong testament to Vietnam's strength and intelligence. This achievement is thanks to the tireless contributions of generations of Vietnamese people, including the important role of veterans - those who, after leaving the military, continue to devote their strength and intelligence to the cause of building and defending the homeland.

Honoring outstanding examples in the Veterans Association

On this meaningful occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association also solemnly held a ceremony to honor outstanding veterans. These are shining examples in continuing to promote the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in peacetime, always striving, training, actively contributing to the development of the community, trusted, loved and followed by local Party committees, authorities and people.

The meeting was not only an opportunity to recall the glorious past but also an affirmation of the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", adding motivation for today's generation to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, building Ho Chi Minh City and the country to become more and more prosperous and civilized.
