The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just requested four transport cooperatives, Hoang Long, Minh Huy, Thang Long, and Nam Sai Gon Mechanics, to rectify the situation of many cars displaying advertisements with betting and lottery content. The Department will plan to conduct surprise inspections of transport units that do not comply with advertising regulations.

This move was made after the City Police discovered many transport business cars with advertisements that were culturally incompatible, violating regulations when the advertising area occupied more than 50% of the surface of each side of the vehicle. Currently, one of the four violating units, Thang Long Transport Tourism Service Cooperative, has requested 54 drivers to remove the illegal advertisements. The remaining units must report the results of the handling to the Department before June 25.

According to regulations, advertising products cannot be attached to the front, back and roof of a car. The sides of the car can be covered with advertisements but not more than 50% of the area. Violators will be fined 2-5 million VND. In particular, if the advertisement affects the aesthetics, traffic safety and social order, the fine will be 5-10 million VND.
