Seraphin Factory has a waste treatment capacity of up to 2,250 tons/day and night, a power generation capacity of 37MW, using modern German Martin incinerator technology. The factory uses green technology, high technology, digital technology and complete automation.
Seraphin is the second waste-to-energy plant in Hanoi. The first plant is located in the Nam Son waste treatment area (Nam Son landfill, Soc Son), with a capacity of 5,500 tons of waste per day and night, and will be operational from the second quarter of 2022. The two plants are expected to basically treat all of the city's household waste. Currently, the amount of waste in the area is about 7,000 tons per day and night.
The Seraphin waste-to-energy plant is expected to burn an average of 1,500 tons of waste per day at the Xuan Son landfill.
Xuan Son Solid Waste Treatment Area currently receives and treats domestic solid waste from 12 districts including: Ba Vi, Chuong My, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, My Duc, Phuc Tho, Phu Xuyen, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa and Son Tay town. The average volume of this landfill receives is about 1,500 tons/day. Of which, more than 1,400 tons/day is landfilled.
The official acceptance of waste by the Seraphin waste-to-energy plant is an event that marks a major step forward in the field of environmental treatment and affirms the self-reliance and high-tech mastery of Vietnamese enterprises.
Accordingly, all input waste is processed and converted into clean electricity and recycled by-products, effectively serving the needs of socio-economic development. The indicators of emissions, wastewater and waste after treatment meet European standards, ensuring safety for the environment and the community.
Architecturally, the factory is designed and built in a modern, imposing architectural style. The entire factory area is systematically planned, in harmony with the green - clean - beautiful space, creating a modern technological complex with a strong European style, bearing the mark of a typical high-tech environmental project.
When operating stably, the factory will help solve Hanoi's urban waste problem, contributing to ending the situation of waste congestion in the inner city, causing environmental pollution as before.
In addition to the two projects above, Hanoi will continue to implement waste treatment projects in Chuong My, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Tri, and Gia Lam. City leaders believe that building waste treatment plants around the central area will help reduce transportation distance, reduce costs, and reduce budget expenditures.
