On August 20, at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.
At the year-end conference, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training launched an emulation campaign to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training).
According to the Organizing Committee, the scale of education in the capital is increasingly developing. Up to now, Hanoi has a total of 2,954 kindergartens and general schools; 29 vocational education and continuing education centers and 1 Hanoi Education Staff Training School with nearly 2.3 million students and 352 vocational education facilities with more than 140,000 staff and teachers.
The rate of public schools in the city meeting national standards is nearly 80%; 23 schools are recognized as high-quality schools.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that to ensure the material facilities, the Hanoi education sector has been preparing to invest in building 6 advanced and modern inter-level schools with an area of 5 hectares or more. In the new school year 2025-2026, Hanoi will have 43 newly built schools of all levels.
In addition to ensuring the material facilities, last school year, the capital's education sector strongly innovated the 10th grade admission work. Accordingly, for the first time, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized the simultaneous announcement of exam scores and admission scores for 10th grade in the 2025-2026 school year to reduce the pressure of anxiety and hardship for students and parents, which was highly appreciated by public opinion.
In the 2025 high school graduation exam, the graduation rate of Hanoi students reached 99.75%, ranking first among provinces and cities in the country.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi students have affirmed their leading position in the country with 200 students winning prizes in national competitions for excellent students - higher than in 2024. Hanoi has 6 student projects participating in the National Science and Technology Research Competition, all of which won prizes; won second prize at the International Science and Technology Competition in the United States; 14 students won prizes at international competitions for excellent students, especially 3 medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad and International Biology Olympiad; won 89 medals - ranked 2nd overall at the National High School Sports Competition in 2025.

The theme of the 2025-2026 school year of the capital's education sector is "Discipline - Creativity - Breakthrough - Development", in which special attention is paid to guiding wards, communes, and educational institutions to properly implement regulations on revenue and expenditure at the beginning of the school year; ensuring conditions for teaching 2 sessions/day...
Speaking at the Conference, Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated the efforts, attempts and achievements of the Hanoi education sector.
In carrying out the tasks of the new school year in the context of operating a two-level government and solving difficulties in the education sector, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong suggested that Hanoi consider establishing a commune-level education council; pay attention to building and expanding the network of schools and classes and taking care of the teaching staff.

Emphasizing the need to continue to strictly implement Circular No. 29/TT-BGDDT, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong noted that the capital's education must take the lead in managing extra teaching and learning. The most important thing is to help students learn how to self-study, learn proactively, for a real and fair education; increase experiential activities, create conditions for students to develop skills.
