A senior teacher in Ho Chi Minh City said that normally, the additional income in the fourth quarter according to Resolution 185 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council is paid on the occasion of Lunar New Year.

If so, this teacher can receive more than 60 million VND (paid quarterly, including 3 months) in additional income. In addition, this person also receives additional income at the school (budget surplus in the year) of about 20-30 million VND depending on the year, a Tet bonus from the city like last year was 1.8 million VND and some other amounts.

With the above amounts, this teacher can receive up to hundreds of millions of dong on the occasion of Lunar New Year.

This teacher said that not many people may receive the above amount, but if all expenses are paid in time for Tet, in general, public school teachers in Ho Chi Minh City can receive a large amount of money to celebrate Tet.

A female teacher in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City said that this year's Lunar New Year she could receive a total of more than 70 million VND.

Of which, the additional income according to Resolution 185 is nearly 50 million VND per quarter, plus the additional income at school which can be around 15 million VND, Tet bonus from the city, lucky money from the school and this year there is an additional amount of money spent according to Decree 73 of the Government of about 4-5 million VND.

"If we call it Tet bonus, it has long been understood to include two items: additional income at the school from the budget surplus and Tet bonus from the city. However, the end of the year is also the time when teachers receive a number of other items, so in total, teachers can receive a large amount of money on the occasion of Tet to cover the Tet holiday," said this teacher.

According to Resolution 185/2023 issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council on the state budget revenue and expenditure estimates for 2024, the maximum additional income expenditure coefficient applicable for 2024 is 1.5 times the salary scale and position. With this expenditure level, teachers can receive from 7 to more than 23 million VND/month depending on the scale and position.

Specifically, a grade III preschool teacher who completes his/her tasks excellently will have an additional income of about 7.37-17.1 million VND/month.

A grade II preschool teacher who completes his/her tasks excellently will have an additional income of 8.2 to 17.4 million VND/month. A grade I preschool teacher who completes his/her tasks excellently will have an additional income of about 14 to 22.3 million VND.

Meanwhile, for primary, secondary and high school teachers with grade III qualifications who complete their tasks excellently, their additional income will be 8.2-17.4 million VND/month.

Primary, secondary and high school teachers, grade II, who complete their tasks excellently, have an additional income of 14-22 million VND/month. Primary, secondary and high school teachers, grade I, who complete their tasks excellently, have an additional income of 15.4-23.7 million VND/month.

In addition to this amount, most schools also spend additional income from the annual budget surplus of 10-30 million VND/teacher depending on the school. In addition, this year, teachers will have additional money to spend according to Decree 73 of the Government, the budget for bonuses is equal to 10% of the salary fund of each unit.

The city's 2024 Tet bonus is 1.8 million VND/teacher. This year's bonus has not been announced yet, but according to many teachers, it will be at least the same as last year or higher.

At Tre Viet Primary - Secondary - High School, Mr. Bui Gia Hieu, Chairman of the school board, informed that based on the school's performance, the lowest bonus this year is 5 million VND and the highest is 40 million VND.

With nearly 210 employees, the school's Tet bonus fund this year is nearly 2 billion VND, a slight increase compared to last year.

Employees who have worked for 12 months or more will receive the full Tet bonus according to regulations. For employees who have not worked for 12 months in 2024, the bonus will be calculated according to the corresponding number of months worked.

According to the leader of Ngo Thoi Nhiem Primary, Secondary and High School system, the Tet bonus for teachers who have worked for a full year is 5 million VND and the highest bonus for teachers is 20 million VND.

Recently, at a meeting to provide comments on the draft Law on Teachers held in Ho Chi Minh City, a report by Mr. Tuong Nguyen Su, Principal of Ngo Thoi Nhiem Primary, Secondary and High School, showed that teachers at this school have very high incomes.

The school principal informed that the average salary of the whole school is currently 27.3 million VND/month, the lowest is 6.1 million VND/month, the highest is 137.8 million VND/month.

The average salary of teachers is 30.7 million VND/month, the highest is 60.7 million VND and the lowest is 14 million VND/month.

The lowest employee salary ranges from 6.1 million VND to the highest is 42 million VND/month, the average is 15 million VND.

The lowest salary used as the basis for social insurance contributions for teachers is nearly 9 million VND/month and the highest is more than 11.4 million VND/month.

Mr. Tuong Nguyen Su also said that the school's salary policy is based on ability, achievements, dedication and seniority at the school.
