Rice price today 8/20
Domestic rice prices on August 20 recorded a slight increase of 50-100 VND/kg for some types of rice. The end-of-season rice supply is still limited, and new transactions are not yet active. In the Mekong Delta, the market is quite stable, with only raw rice for export increasing in price compared to yesterday.
The price of raw rice for export in An Giang fluctuates at: IR 504 is around 8,550 - 8,650 VND/kg; OM 380 is from 8,300 - 8,400 VND/kg; OM 18 is around 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 remains at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, IR 504 is at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg. By-products such as broken rice and bran fluctuate at 7,600 - 9,000 VND/kg.
At the retail market, the common rice prices remained unchanged compared to the weekend: Nang Nhen at 28,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine 16,000 - 18,000 VND/kg; common white rice 16,000 VND/kg. Some specialties such as Japanese rice and Soc Thai rice remained at 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.
Fresh rice prices in An Giang are currently fluctuating: OM 18 from 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; IR 50404 from 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. Transactions in Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Ca Mau provinces are quite slow, rice supply is low, prices are generally stable.
Export market
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged from the end of the week: 5% broken rice at 395 USD/ton, 25% broken rice at 371 USD/ton, 100% broken rice at about 339 USD/ton. Vietnam currently maintains its position as the world's second largest rice exporter, thanks to its strategy of improving quality and developing sustainable raw material areas.
