Domestic and international silver prices recorded a slight increase amid quiet trading due to the impact of the 2025 New Year holiday.

Additionally, the Federal Reserve's (FED) monetary policy forecast has helped limit silver's gains, as expectations show the FED will make fewer rate cuts than expected this year.

Although still facing many unstable factors, experts say silver prices could increase sharply in the future thanks to industrial demand and scarce supply.

In recent years, the industrial sector has played a major role in driving silver demand. According to the Silver Institute's November forecast, total silver demand for industrial production could reach 702 million ounces in 2024, up 7% from 655 million ounces in 2023. This increase is mainly due to demand in the renewable energy sector, especially solar power.

Silver mine production, however, is expected to remain largely unchanged, rising only slightly by 1% to 837 million ounces in 2024. Recycled supply is expected to bring total silver to 1.03 billion ounces, but that is still a long way from total demand, estimated at 1.21 billion ounces.
