Galaxy S25 has impressively thin dimensions to challenge iPhone 17 Air

Báo điện tử VOVBáo điện tử VOV18/09/2024

The Galaxy S25 is one of the main rivals to the iPhone 16. Previous renders have suggested the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be the thinnest Ultra smartphone yet with rounded edges, but the base Galaxy S25 is even thinner.

According to the latest render from a notorious Samsung leaker, the Galaxy S25 will be just 7.2mm thick. For comparison, the Galaxy S24 is 7.6mm thick. This has many people very excited and will likely be a big challenge to the ultra-thin smartphone that Apple is developing, the iPhone 17 Air.

The most notable point about the iPhone 17 Air is that Apple seems to sacrifice the power of the product to bring the desired thinness. Moreover, this phone is said to be more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, meaning it is only for those who are really passionate about thinness instead of focusing on hardware configuration.

Recent leaks also indicate that Apple will be acquiring TSMC's entire supply of 2nm chips for next year's iPhone 17 Pro models. That means the standard iPhone 17 and even the iPhone 17 Air will likely stop at 3nm chips manufactured on the same process as the A18 found on the iPhone 16 series as a way to differentiate between the products.

Meanwhile, Samsung has been researching and developing 1.4nm chips, determined to make a strong comeback for Exynos to help elevate Ultra smartphones. It is likely that the company will not bring this chip to the lower segment, specifically the standard Galaxy S25.

Regardless of Samsung’s chip deployment plans, 2025 promises to be an interesting year for ultra-thin smartphones. The question is how this will affect battery life on devices that have had to shrink in size to meet the thinness that manufacturers are aiming for.
