The number of visitors to Ho Chi Minh City has skyrocketed.
According to the latest data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this year's holiday lasts for 5 days, most of the key tourist areas across the country have recorded positive signals with the number of visitors increasing compared to the same period in 2024. Due to the long holiday and hot weather, most tourists choose beach destinations such as: Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), (Cua Lo) Nghe An, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Kien Giang..., or have fun and experience at cultural, ecological and resort tourist areas and destinations close to major cities.
In particular, tourists from provinces and cities came to Ho Chi Minh City to join in a series of special events in the last days of historic April. With the spirit of "Proud of 50 years - Radiant City named after Uncle Ho", Ho Chi Minh City has truly left a strong impression in the hearts of people and tourists, creating a spread of national pride of the Vietnamese people, bringing visitors impressive experiences in the great festival of the nation.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City: Estimated to welcome 1,950,000 visitors, up 101.2% compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated at about 120,000, an increase of 122.2%. Overnight visitors are estimated at about 867,000, an increase of 333.5%. Room occupancy is estimated at about 95%, an increase of 26.7%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 7,138 billion VND, an increase of 120.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
Thanh Hoa: estimated to welcome 1,600,000 visitors, up 5.3% over the same period in 2024; estimated number of overnight visitors is nearly 1,000,000. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 4,170 billion, up 9.6% over the same period in 2024.
Quang Ninh: estimated to welcome 1,135,000 visitors, up 12% over the same period in 2024; of which international visitors are estimated at 102,000, up 10% over the same period; overnight visitors are estimated at 465,000, up 8% over the same period. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 3,121 billion, up 41% over the same period in 2024.
Khanh Hoa: estimated to welcome 1,005,160 visitors, up 3.63% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 1,377.4 billion, up 5.41% over the same period in 2024. Average room occupancy rate reaches 88.1%.
Hanoi: Estimated to welcome 875,200 visitors, up 18.64% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 136,190, up 55.35%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach 3,150 billion VND, up 25.21%. Average room occupancy rate is 69.67%, up 9.27% over the same period in 2024.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau: estimated to welcome 785,495 visitors, an increase of 28.24% over the same period in 2024; Ninh Binh: estimated to welcome over 700,000 number of visitors, up 48.9% over the same period in 2024; Da Nang: expected to welcome more than 610,000 visitors, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024; Quang Binh: estimated to welcome 369,000 visitors, an increase of 16% over the same period in 2024; Hue City: estimated to welcome 351,000 number of visitors, up 219% compared to 2024; Can Tho: expected to welcome 315,000 visitors, up 10% compared to 2024. Quang Nam: estimated to welcome 282,000 visitors, up 21%; Kien Giang (from April 30 to May 3): expected to welcome 268,381 number of visitors, up 9.7%.
Traveling to the source, learning about history 'attracts' tourists
This year's holiday season has seen a trend of more visitors to the Southern region than every year because of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, especially during the first two days of the holiday. Instead of choosing tours abroad like every year, many tourists have prioritized the "return to the source" journey with historical imprints to feel the atmosphere of gratitude, remembrance and relive the heroic memories of the nation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification. Increase flights and trains to serve tourists
To serve the travel demand during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have increased the number of flights by about 20% at night from 11pm to 5am to supplement/increase the supply capacity. At the same time, they have implemented optimal exploitation plans, increased the seat utilization coefficient on flights, increased aircraft operating time, shortened aircraft turnaround time, etc.
Airports with high throughput during the peak period of April 30 - May 1 are: Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Phu Bai, Lien Khuong. During the April 30 - May 1 holiday in 2025, Vietnam Airlines will provide more than 610,000 seats, equivalent to more than 3,200 domestic flights, up 35% and 29% respectively over the same period last year; Vietjet will provide nearly 620,000 seats, an increase of about 100,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 500 domestic flights.
The Railway sector has increased the number of trains from Hanoi to Da Nang, Dong Hoi, Hai Phong, Lao Cai and vice versa; from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Quy Nhon. The Railway sector has adjusted the increase from 2% to 4% compared to 2024, while simultaneously applying many promotional programs to reduce ticket prices for many groups of customers, including a 40% discount on ticket prices for groups such as war invalids, sick soldiers, beneficiaries of policies such as war invalids, veterans and relatives of people with meritorious services. The Central region has Ba Na (Da Nang), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Mui Ne (Binh Thuan), Mang Den (Kon Tum), Da Lat (Lam Dong),... In the Southern region, there are Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang)...
The 5-day holiday (from April 30 to May 4, 2025) along with many programs, events, activities, and festivals organized simultaneously by localities and businesses, most destinations have welcomed more visitors, longer stays, and higher revenue compared to the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at about 831.4 billion VND, an increase of 59% over the same period. The average hotel room occupancy rate is estimated at 80%.
Notably, the number of international visitors still has good growth momentum even though the peak season has passed. Room rates and tourism services have not fluctuated much. Security, order, environmental sanitation, and food safety at destinations are guaranteed. After the parade, locals and tourists joined hands to clean up some streets in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the image of a clean, civilized Vietnam, creating a good impression in the hearts of international visitors attending this important celebration.
In addition, the proactive preparation and organization of many large-scale cultural events, festivals, sports, art performances... in localities and tourist centers, especially the companionship of businesses, has created many new tourism products, promoting the demand for entertainment, sightseeing, and relaxation during the upcoming holidays and summer tourism peak of 2025. Travel agencies have proactively built holiday tourism products with many suitable itineraries, meeting the diverse needs of all customers with itineraries of 3 to 4 days for domestic tours; foreign tours are mainly itineraries of 4 to 5 days to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Korea, Japan, etc.
