Vietnam Women's Team 3-1 India
After losing the opening match, the Vietnamese team was determined to face the Indian team. Against a weaker opponent, coach Mai Duc Chung's players had no difficulty in winning 3 points.
The Vietnamese team started with the strongest lineup. Huynh Nhu played highest up front. Supporting her were two fast and skillful wingers, Bich Thuy and Thanh Nha.
The Vietnamese team controlled the match right from the opening whistle. The Indian team also took the initiative to retreat deep, waiting for the opportunity to counterattack. They concentrated a large number of troops in the central area to minimize the risk from the Vietnamese team's cross-line passes.
Hai Linh is one of the players who scored for the Vietnam team.
For this reason, coach Mai Duc Chung asked his players to penetrate deep into the two wings. The ball was often passed down the armpit before being crossed or stretched into the penalty area. In the 4th minute, this tactic was effective. Tuyet Dung crossed the ball accurately for Huynh Nhu to head in to open the score.
The Indian team recognized the Vietnamese team's style of play, but the counter was another story. The midfielders and full-backs of the white team showed agility to overcome the opponents' efforts to close down. The goal to double the gap came in the 22nd minute. This time, Duong Thi Van crossed the ball, and Hai Linh headed the goal.
In the second half, the game did not change much. The Vietnamese women's team owned most of the ball. However, the pressure on the team was not too great.
The third goal of the Vietnamese team repeated the scenario of the previous two goals. Hai Yen was the one who scored. In the final minutes of the match, the Indian team had an honorary goal. Sandhiya Ranganathan took advantage of the lack of coordination between goalkeeper Kim Thanh and the defenders to score.
The match ended with a score of 3-1 in favor of the Vietnamese women's team. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team got the first 3 points in the second qualifying round for the 2024 Olympics.
