Defeating Thailand 3-1, the Vietnamese women's team won the bronze medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament. This was the second victory of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team against rival Thailand at the tournament (winning 1-0 in the group stage).

Evaluating the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "We won convincingly against Thailand, bringing joy and excitement to all Vietnamese people.

In previous matches, although Huynh Nhu did not score, I highly appreciated many of her passes. Today, Nhu scored directly, congratulations to her."

"After this tournament, the players returned to the club to participate in the national tournament. I went to find and select capable athletes to supplement the team in preparation for the SEA Games.

I will create more opportunities for the players in the U20 Vietnam women's team, helping them get acquainted with their seniors. We will also call up new faces," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Meanwhile, Thailand coach Futoshi Ikeda said: "The Vietnamese women's team deserves this result. Our team is a young team that is trying many new things, and through the match, they learned that small mistakes can make a big difference. I believe the team still has many opportunities to develop in the future.

We select the players with the best form to bring to the SEA Games. The team must always improve continuously and prepare carefully, ready for the goal of winning the gold medal."
