(PLVN) - On December 26, in Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province), the People's Committees of provinces and cities in the Southeast region held a conference to review the implementation of the cooperation agreement on tourism development in 2024.

According to the report at the Conference, in 2024, localities in the region welcomed more than 74 million visitors, an increase of 12.6% over the same period in 2023, including more than 67 million domestic visitors and more than 6.7 million international visitors.

​Total tourism revenue of the Southeast region reached over VND215,000 billion, up 18.8% over the previous year. Despite many positive results, the implementation of tourism cooperation agreements still has some limitations. Key tourism projects of localities are behind schedule due to problems with compensation, site clearance and incomplete land policies, affecting the development of tourism in the region.

​In addition, provinces and cities in the region do not have strong enough incentive pricing and promotion policies to attract tourists, while tourism products still lack prominence and do not meet the diverse needs of tourists. The linkage in building tours and tourism routes between localities is still limited, and a clear common tourism product has not been formed.

At the conference, leaders of provinces and cities agreed to implement more effective linkage activities in 2025, aiming to exploit the unique products of each locality, diversify tourism types and increase competitiveness for the region. At the same time, localities will focus on removing difficulties for development projects, creating conditions for tourism businesses to expand markets and attract tourists.

In particular, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province introduced a smart interactive map and a virtual reality tourism experience space to promote destinations in the province and the Southeast region.

Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Son Hung affirmed that the locality is always ready to support investors in the tourism sector, wishing to attract investment to develop sustainable tourism and enhance the cultural and artistic values ​​of Vietnamese people.
