At the GO! Thanh Hoa system, from April 20, the program "Festive season - Shocking prices" has been widely deployed with more than 3,000 essential consumer goods discounted from 10% to 50%. Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh, manager of the fresh food area, said: "We have proactively increased the amount of imported goods by about 30% compared to normal, especially goods serving tourism such as packaged food, soft drinks, picnic utensils. The number of customers is expected to peak on April 28 and 29".

Not only stopping at discounts, large supermarkets also invest heavily in experiential space.
VinMart Thanh Hoa has designed an additional “Festival Cuisine” area with traditional dishes, and organized lucky draw games to extend customers’ stay. The supermarket representative said that the average number of customers increased by 25% compared to last week, especially families and young people shopping in groups.
Co.opmart Thanh Hoa – one of the familiar retail outlets in the city – is no exception to this trend. On this occasion, Co.opmart is launching the program “Bustling holidays – Full of promotions” from April 22 to May 1 with deep discounts from 15% to 40% on household goods, dry foods, cosmetics and holiday items. In addition, customers can also receive gifts and accumulate points to redeem gifts.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of Co.opmart Thanh Hoa said: “The number of customers has increased steadily since the beginning of the week. We have arranged more staff at the checkout counters and extended our opening hours to 10 p.m. to serve people shopping after work.”

Meanwhile, electronics and technology stores also took advantage of the holiday to boost sales. Programs such as "Buy 1 Get 2 Free", 0% interest installment payments, shocking discounts on TVs, refrigerators, air purifiers, etc. were applied simultaneously by Dien May Xanh, MediaMart, and FPT Shop. Mr. Tran Van Manh (Dong Huong ward, Thanh Hoa city) said: "I waited until the holiday to buy an air purifier because I saw the price was reduced by nearly 2 million, and I also received a gift voucher. I saved nearly 20%."

Along with modern retail channels, traditional markets such as Tay Thanh market, Dong Huong wholesale market, and Nam Thanh market are equally bustling. Although there are no formal promotions, traders proactively adjust prices flexibly and enhance eye-catching displays to compete. Ms. Le Thi Ha, a meat trader at Tay Thanh market, shared: “This year is a long holiday, so people shop earlier. I sell 40-50% more than usual, especially meat, dried goods, and clean vegetables.”
Notably, the provincial e-commerce market also has positive movements. Online shops on Facebook, Zalo, TikTok Shop simultaneously livestream, launch discount codes, and free shipping to attract customers to shop at home. Many young people in Thanh Hoa choose to buy online because of its convenience and competitive prices. Nguyen Mai Linh (23 years old, student) shared: "I just bought a beach outfit and a handbag via livestream, got a 30% discount and a straw hat as a gift. Even though it's not yet the holiday, the sellers are still running orders continuously."
According to Thanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade, this year's stimulus activities have been more carefully prepared by businesses. The combination of promotions, after-sales services and multi-channel communications has contributed to creating a positive effect, stimulating domestic consumption demand. It is forecasted that total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the province during this year's holiday season may increase by 10-15% compared to the same period last year, in which the food, household electronics and fashion industries account for a large proportion.
However, experts also recommend that businesses should not only focus on short-term promotions but also focus on retaining customers after the holidays with care services, after-sales incentives and stable product quality. In the context of purchasing power not yet fully recovering, stimulating demand needs to be associated with a long-term strategy, aiming to build trust and sustainable consumption habits of Thanh Hoa people.
