BHG - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hai Phong (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025), on the morning of April 27, the delegation of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City led by Comrade Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Heroic Martyrs' Temple on High Point 468, Thanh Thuy Commune. Welcoming and attending the delegation were Comrade Thao Hong Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Vi Xuyen District.

At the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Martyrs' Temple, the Hai Phong City delegation was introduced to information about the battle to protect the northern border, the Vi Xuyen front: During the battle, thousands of soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and the people of all ethnic groups in Ha Giang province were intelligent, brave, and resilient in fighting with the will of "Not an inch gone, not a millimeter left", determined to hold each hilltop, each cliff, and each high point with the courageous spirit of "Living on the rocks to fight the enemy, dying to become immortal in stone"; more than 4,000 officers and soldiers heroically sacrificed and remained in the land of the northernmost tip of the Fatherland; their blood colored the flag of determination to fight and win of the heroic Vietnam People's Army; their bodies merged with the motherland, so that the Fatherland would be forever peaceful and eternal. In recent years, with the attention of the Party and the State, Ha Giang province has made efforts to clear mines, search for and collect the remains of martyrs who died on the Vi Xuyen front. Currently, Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery is the resting place of over 2,000 martyrs, including nearly 2,000 martyrs' graves and 1 mass grave; 71 martyrs' graves are children of Hai Phong whose information has been identified.

In front of the majestic and sacred Monument of the Fatherland at the Martyrs Temple of High Point 468 and the National Martyrs Cemetery of Vi Xuyen, with respect and gratitude, the delegates offered flowers and burned incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the independence and freedom of the nation, for the happiness of the people and the integrity of the national territory, and prayed for the country to grow stronger and stronger.

On this occasion, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City presented the province with 7 billion VND to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province; and at the same time supported 500 million VND for families of meritorious people, poor veterans, and poor households in especially difficult circumstances.

At the reception of the Hai Phong City delegation, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thao Hong Son provided an overview of some natural conditions, socio-economic situation and results of the implementation of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. At the same time, he thanked the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Hai Phong for their affection for Ha Giang. He hoped that the two provinces would continue to maintain a close relationship and share experiences in leadership and direction in implementing assigned political tasks, together bringing the localities to further development.
