The art exhibition “Historical Days” was organized under the direction of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, in coordination with the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Political Department of the Navy and Tan Ha Noi Art Company Limited with the support of Bao Viet Nhan Tho Corporation.
Attending the opening ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan, former member of the Party Central Committee, former member of the Central Military Commission, former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics; Hero of the People's Armed Forces - Lieutenant General Pham Tuan, along with representatives of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; General Department of Politics, Navy Command, representatives of the Political Department of the military services and branches; Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Vietnam and Hanoi Fine Arts Associations, and many artists.

The exhibition “Historical Days” is an opportunity to honor the silent artistic creations of painters and sculptors through many generations; at the same time, widely promote fine art works on the theme of revolutionary history, contributing to the work of traditional education , creating motivation to successfully carry out the task of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new era of the country.

The exhibition displays works in many art genres, including 130 paintings, 15 graphic works, 52 sketches with materials: oil, lacquer, acrylic, silk, wood carving, ... and 11 sculptures by many generations of painters and sculptors from Indochina fine arts, resistance art to the years of national construction, fighting, building and defending the Fatherland with rich and vivid styles and visual language.

For the first time, in the space of the Vietnam Military Museum, there are relatively complete works by famous artists of modern Vietnamese fine arts created during the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, including many generations of artists who have contributed to military fine arts.
The works reflect the reality of life and fighting through two resistance wars, honoring the officers and soldiers of the armed forces and the people, the people who silently contributed and sacrificed. Typical are the works about special forces soldiers, female guerrillas, militiamen, ethnic minority mothers, foster brothers... by artists: Le Lam, artist Pham Ngoc Lieu, artist Phan Oanh... Outstanding is the collection of Colonel-artist Le Huy Toan with sketches drawn on the battlefield using watercolors, pencils, iron pens... vivid and extremely attractive.

The exhibition focuses on introducing to the public many works reflecting the life and fighting of our army and people during the war against the US to save the country. Some of the works include: the lacquer painting “Liberating Buon Ma Thuot” by artist Tran Huu Chat, the oil painting “Dien Bien Phu in the air” by Nguyen Thuan, “Missile vehicle crossing Long Bien bridge” by Van Da, the gouache painting “Crescent moon” by artist Mai Van Hien, the work “Meal in the forest” by artist Pham Ngoc Lieu, the acrylic “Triumph song” by artist Nguyen The Huu, the oil painting “Sac forest commando” by Trinh Ba Quat.
Each work is an impressive moment, like a witness of history recording the fierce context, hardships and heroic moments of heroic feats.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the latest works of contemporary art on the theme of islands and the Vietnam People's Navy such as: "Uncle Ho with the islands" by Nguyen Thanh Tung, "Truong Sa Proud" by Pham Hoang Van, "Truong Sa Rescue Ship" by Ngan Chai, "Raising the Liberation Flag on Son Ca Island" and "Ceramic Flag on Truong Sa Lon Island" by Nguyen Thu Thuy, "Sovereignty Landmarks" by Do Ngoc Dung, "Dawn of DK1 Platform" by Tran Tuan Long, "Sea of Awakening" by Luong Nguyen Minh, "Island Soldier Song" by Dao The Am, "Truong Sa Island Sunlight" and "Truong Sa Concerto" by Trinh Nam, "Waves on Truong Sa" by Do Su, "Dawn" by Hoang Thanh Nhu, "Peaceful Truong Sa Island" by Tran Tieu Hoa, "Peaceful Moment on Phan Vinh Island" by Nguyen Thuy Van, etc.
Through each work, viewers understand and love more about the sacred archipelago of the Fatherland and the sacrifices of generations of soldiers who are day and night maintaining the country's sovereignty.

The exhibition also introduces many successful works by today’s artists with creative themes about love for homeland, country, peace, prosperity and happiness. Artist Nguyen Thi Thien has the work “Spring on the Island”, artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy has the painting “I love peace”, artist Le The Anh has the work “Love song of Truong Sa”…
Besides, there are sculptures praising the beauty of soldiers in peacetime such as: "Flood Season" by Dinh Van Trong, "Water Special Forces" by Vu Quang Sang, "Break Time" by Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh...

The art exhibition “Historical Days” was organized from the passion of journalist and artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, author of the work “Ceramic Road along the Red River” - recognized as the world’s longest ceramic painting on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in 2010. She is also the author of two ceramic art works “National Flag” and “Vietnam Map” on Truong Sa Lon Island.

The art exhibition “Historical Days” held right on the occasion of important national holidays is an opportunity for the public to admire expressive paintings and sculptures, contributing a bit of memory of a historical period and shining the simple beauty of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers”.
The exhibition of works also contributes to promoting and educating the glorious traditions and heroic history of the nation, promoting the spirit of solidarity and awareness of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland, and successfully carrying out the task of building and defending the Fatherland.
