In the spring crop of 2024, Central Plant Protection Joint Stock Company 1 implemented a rat extermination model using new generation drugs to eradicate rats that harm rice on an area of ​​1 hectare in Yen Tho commune (Nhu Thanh).

Accordingly, the model implements mass rat extermination on a large scale, applying a combination of measures, such as: clearing the edges of rice fields and ditches to detect rat nests, surrounding the model area with nylon, and continuously using Hicate 0.08 AB rat poison for 4 days from March 11 to March 14. This is a new generation anticoagulant rat poison, the strongest; after just one time of eating the bait, the rat will have internal bleeding, mucous membranes and die after a few days.

Based on the monitoring investigation of the Central Plant Protection Joint Stock Company 1 on the activity index and the rate of damaged rice stalks in the field, it shows that the rat poison Hicate 0.08AB used at a dose of 4 kg/1ha has a high effectiveness in killing rats in the field, reaching 82.92%. The initial model has brought some very positive results, the pre-mixed bait Hicate 0.08AB to kill rats is highly effective, safe, easy to use in large scale, suitable for a campaign to organize concentrated and simultaneous rat extermination.

Through the model, farmers will change their pest management methods in general and rat management in particular, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's agricultural restructuring project. At the same time, together with localities, actively implement Official Dispatch No. 06/CD-UBND dated March 25, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing urgent measures to eradicate rats to protect agricultural production and the environment.
