On the afternoon of June 17, the Ministry of Health held a press conference to provide health information for the second quarter. At the meeting, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan also informed about the construction progress of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2 in Ha Nam province.

The Ministry of Health leader said that the Government's working group, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Construction, has reviewed and evaluated the entire project and considered the difficulties.

The units have specifically reviewed the issues that have been done and have not been done, and the problems that have been encountered to propose solutions. At the same time, there is a report to the Prime Minister, the goal of promoting implementation, these agencies have reviewed, removed difficulties, problems and promoted the implementation of construction investment projects.

"Up to this point, the Ministry of Health has worked with the Ministry of Construction, proposed measures to adjust the mechanism, ensure the legal basis, and quickly started to remove difficulties and obstacles with contractors.

When the Ministry of Construction responds, we will immediately work with contractors to remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up the completion progress, and put the two facilities into operation," Ms. Lan affirmed.

Bach Mai 2 and Viet Duc 2 Hospitals have a total investment of 10,000 billion VND, started construction in 2014 in Ha Nam province, the initial progress was to complete and put into use in 2017, later the project completion progress was delayed to 2019.

By March 2019, the project still had many problems and was unfinished, especially the medical equipment to operate the hospital had not been installed yet. The Ministry of Health and the two hospitals agreed to open the clinic first, and when the entire hospital was completed and had an operating license, the services would continue to be opened.

However, due to the fact that the hospitals were not yet complete, there were not many visitors, they were not operating effectively, and the problems had not been resolved, these hospitals have been almost abandoned since then (except for a few days used to quarantine COVID-19 patients at the beginning of the epidemic).

Meanwhile, there is a hospital using the same capital source as Bach Mai and Viet Duc 2 but started construction later and by a different investor, but it has been built modernly and put into use for a long time.
