The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Thuan Nam District, 2024

Thuan Nam district currently has 21,072 ethnic minorities, accounting for about 29% of the population, mainly Cham, Raglai, Hoa and Muong ethnic groups, living mainly in 3 communes: Phuoc Nam, Phuoc Ninh and Phuoc Ha. In the period of 2019-2024, from the State's programs and projects, the district received and invested about 360 billion VND to build 33 infrastructure works, provide vocational training for 2,025 workers, provide job creation consultation for more than 11,000 workers, support 4,582 ethnic minority households to borrow capital to develop the economy , expand production, create jobs, build houses and auxiliary works.

At the same time, implementing policies to care for education , health care for the people, preserving, maintaining and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities... Thanks to that, the material and spiritual life of the majority of people in ethnic minority areas has been improved, the face of the new countryside is increasingly prosperous. Up to now, the whole district has 2/3 communes in ethnic minority areas meeting new rural standards. By the end of 2023, the number of poor households of ethnic minorities in the district is 521 households.

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the determination of leadership and direction of local Party committees, authorities and organizations, especially the solidarity, response and promotion of internal strength of ethnic minorities in Thuan Nam district.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Party Committee, the government and the departments, branches and unions of the district to focus on implementing well the propaganda work, widely disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on ethnic affairs and great national unity; raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, branches and the whole society about the role and position of ethnic affairs, the importance of ethnic minority areas for the comprehensive development of the district in particular and Ninh Thuan province in general; closely following the policies and resolutions of the Central and the province to concretize them into action programs close to the practical conditions of each ethnic minority area in the district. At the same time, proactively and effectively utilize resources and support policies under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas for the period 2021-2030 for the goal of comprehensive development of the district's ethnic minority areas; Invest in completing infrastructure of transport, irrigation, electricity, telecommunications, and works to improve people's knowledge; strengthen vocational training associated with job introduction, labor export, creating new jobs for ethnic minorities, focusing on preserving, maintaining, and promoting fine traditional cultural identities.
