While the price of SJC gold bars sold by banks has remained at 76.98 million VND/tael for over a month, the price of gold rings this morning "skyrocketed", with some brands raising the price of gold rings to nearly 78 million VND/tael (sold).

At Bao Tin Minh Chau gold shop (Tran Nhan Tong, Hanoi), from 8:30 a.m., many people stood in the rain, waiting in long lines for their turn to make transactions. According to PV.VietNamNet, up to 90% of people wanted to buy gold, and a few people came to sell gold.

At 9:00 a.m., the staff began to let people line up in the store, and announced that each person could only buy a maximum of 3 taels of gold. The store only sold plain round gold rings, not SJC gold bars.

After 30 minutes of opening, Bao Tin Minh Chau store staff announced that they would stop accepting more customers. Many people bought 1-3 taels, and some bought 3-5 taels to make it easier to sell later.

The store representative said that many people transferred large amounts of money but had not yet set up facial biometrics, so it took time to set up and complete the transaction.

Mr. Quang, a customer, said he wanted to buy 1 tael to pay off his debt. He just went to the bank to withdraw money to make the transaction faster. Ms. Dung (who lives 300m from the gold shop) said she had asked someone to hold her chair and was trying to cook for her family, but when she returned, it was not her turn yet.

At 10:30, the store staff suddenly announced that they would reduce the amount sold to each customer from 3 taels to 1 tael. This made many customers angry and they immediately left despite having waited for 1.5 hours.

Ms. Ha (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) looked worried when there were 20 people in line before her. "I don't know if the store will reduce the sales when it's my turn," she shared.

To "fill the empty seats" of those who could not wait and left, many people took the opportunity to call more relatives to come in and buy with them, hoping to buy more than one tael.

At nearly 11am, at Bao Tin Minh Chau gold shop, people were still lining up near the entrance. Many customers suggested registering their quantity in advance and coming in the afternoon to pick up their gold because they were worried that they would not get their turn even if they waited until noon.

However, not far away, Phu Quy and SJC gold shops on Tran Nhan Tong street were deserted, with only a few people coming to make transactions.

Faced with the demand for gold from many people, some people have appeared trading with each other outside the store, along with offers of "sky-high" prices.

Shops recommend that people pay attention and be vigilant with those who offer to buy and sell gold of unknown origin and documents, to avoid unfortunate risks.
