“VAR technology can be applied at the end of the 2023 V-League season”

VFF Vice President and VPF President Tran Anh Tu said that they will try to apply VAR technology at the end of this year's Vietnamese football season. FIFA has approved Vietnam to use VAR and now only needs to complete the procedure to use the "VAR room".

Mr. Tran Anh Tu said: "According to the roadmap, VAR will be applied in the 2024 season, but if all procedures are completed, this technology can appear at the end of this year's season."

VAR will be used in high-stakes matches that decide rankings, while foreign referees will be used in other matches. The semi-finals and finals of the National Cup may also use VAR this year.

The total number of VAR vehicles used will be 4 to ensure application to all V-League matches. Applying VAR technology is expected to minimize errors and unnecessary controversies in Vietnamese football.

Thailand held to a draw by Taiwan despite 76% possession

Thailand drew 2-2 with host Taiwan in a friendly match on the evening of June 16. Despite controlling the ball 76% and having 11 shots, Thailand's defense still made mistakes that led to the team equalizing in the 87th minute. Thailand's two goals were scored by Teerasil Dangda and Wang Ruei (own goal).

This is the second consecutive match that Thailand has failed to beat Taiwan. Previously, they lost 0-1 to Taiwan in a friendly match to prepare for the 2022 AFF Cup. Thailand will continue to play a friendly match against Hong Kong on June 19.

De Gea is about to leave Man Utd

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been left out of the squad for the new season as he is currently negotiating a new contract. According to ESPN, De Gea may have played his last game for Man Utd as manager Erik ten Hag does not want to consider him as his number one goalkeeper from next season.

De Gea has received several offers to return to Spain or play in the Saudi League. He joined the team in 2011 and played 545 times for Man Utd, but his form has declined since 2018.

Man Utd have extended contracts with back-up goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop, and Dean Henderson is likely to be sold or loaned out to another team.

Mbappe: “The President cannot decide my future”

France captain Kylian Mbappe has insisted that it is entirely his decision whether he stays or leaves PSG. President Emmanuel Macron has previously said he will try to convince Mbappe to stay at PSG until 2025, but Mbappe said his decision does not depend on him.

Mbappe also confirmed the letter sent to PSG earlier this week, in which he informed the club that he would only comply with his contract until June 2024 and would not activate the extension clause until June 2025. This puts PSG in a difficult position. The Ligue 1 champions must choose between accepting to lose Mbappe for free after a year, or selling him this summer to recoup the transfer fee.

Mbappe insists he wants to stay at PSG for the rest of the 2023-2024 season. He dismissed rumours of a move to Real this summer as lies. “Right now, staying at PSG is my only option,” Mbappe said. “I just sent a letter and I don’t think I offended anyone.”
