Among the 589 candidates who met the standards for professor and associate professor in 2023, there are many young people from the 8X and 9X generations. Notably, there are 7 8X candidates who met the standards for professor.
On November 6, the State Council of Professors announced a list of 589 candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2023.
This is a list filtered from 606 candidates proposed by 26 professional and interdisciplinary professor councils for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2023. This means that, compared to the original list, 17 candidates were eliminated in the state-level council review round.
And this list does not include candidates for security science and military science.
Among the 589 candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2023, there are 2 associate professor candidates from the 9X generation. Both were born in 1990.

That is Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nham (majoring in finance and banking) who used to work at the Academy of Policy and Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment. Dr. Nham is currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Finance, University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City.
The other person is Dr. Le Thanh Ha (majoring in economics), currently a lecturer in the department of microeconomics, Faculty of Economics, National Economics University (Hanoi).
There are also 3 candidates born in 1989, 5 candidates born in 1988. These are the youngest candidates.
Generation 8X has 309 candidates who meet the standards for professor and associate professor in 2023, accounting for 52.46%. Generation 9X has 2 people, accounting for 0.34%.

Notably, there are 7 8X candidates who meet the professor standards in 2023. Specifically, the 3 youngest candidates were all born in 1984 (39 years old).
The first candidate is Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Xuan Bach, majoring in medicine, working at Hanoi Medical University. He has published 97 scientific articles. Of these, 92 are typical scientific articles in prestigious international journals (71 are the main author). He has also published 9 books in prestigious publishers.
The second person is Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Dai Hai, Chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology). He has published 152 scientific articles. Of which, 132 are in prestigious international journals. In addition, he has been granted 3 patents and utility solutions. He has also published 5 books in prestigious publishers.
The remaining candidate is Associate Professor, PhD Doan Thai Son, Mathematics Department, Institute of Mathematics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology). He has published 52 scientific articles. All 52/52 scientific articles were published in prestigious international journals.
Of the 4 8X candidates who qualified as professors in 2023, 3 are currently working at Phenikaa University. They are: Vu Van Truong (1983), majoring in mechanics; Tran Duc Tan (1980), majoring in electronics; Tran Hoai Nam (1981), majoring in physics. The remaining candidate is Nguyen Hoang Viet (1980), majoring in economics, University of Commerce.
According to the State Council of Professors, within 15 days (from November 6), if there are no petitions or complaints, the Chairman of the State Council of Professors will sign a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2023.
