Officers and soldiers of Ten Tan Border Post help people build houses.
We, along with officers and soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station, visited the family of Ms. Luong Thi Hom, a Thai ethnic in Tao village, Trung Ly commune. In the new house, Ms. Hom could not hide her joy and happiness. She shared: “Previously, my family lived in a dilapidated stilt house that was damaged. Due to the extremely difficult family situation, we could not afford to rebuild it. With the attention and support of the Party and the State, my family received 80 million VND and the help of brothers, relatives, especially officers and soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station and people in the village who supported working days. The dream of living in a new house has now come true. This is a source of motivation for my family to strive to escape poverty.”
Major Nguyen Van Thien, Political Commissar of Trung Ly Border Post, said: In Trung Ly commune, there are 15 villages, of which 11 are Mong, with a high rate of poor households. Many villages such as Ta Com, Pa Bua, and Ca Giang are nearly 50km from the commune center, making the difficult road conditions even higher, causing the price of construction materials to increase. Most of the households supported to build houses under Directive No. 22-CT/TU are mostly poor families, unable to pay more than the support of 80 million VND. Faced with this reality, officers and soldiers of the unit went directly to the villages, worked with the people to level the ground, carry bricks, mix mortar, and build houses to reduce costs for the households.
Lieutenant Colonel Thinh Van Kien, Civil Affairs Assistant, Border Guard Command, said: Implementing Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial Border Guard Command has directed units to disseminate the purpose and significance of Directive No. 22 to all officers, soldiers and people in the border area. Along with that, directing border guard units to actively advise and coordinate with local Party committees, authorities and functional agencies to organize propaganda and mobilize organizations, individuals and businesses to participate in contributing and supporting. Up to now, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard have donated 1.38 billion VND to build houses for households with housing difficulties. Along with that, border guard stations have mobilized 1,710 officers and soldiers to participate in 2,650 working days to support 726 households to build houses; supporting families with construction materials worth 670 million VND. In addition, the Border Guard actively coordinated with all levels and sectors to mobilize and use resources to support the construction of 24 houses for military families and people with housing difficulties in the communes of Bat Mot, Pu Nhi, and Na Meo.
The effective and practical work of the Border Guard has contributed to helping poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties on the border to stabilize their lives.
