The 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou (China) is about to open, but up to this point, no Vietnamese television unit has bought the copyright for the Asian Games because the price is too high.

The 19th ASIAD Organizing Committee appointed China Media Group (CMG) as the host television station as well as the unit responsible for distributing the copyright of this ASIAD.
Before ASIAD 19, CMG offered the television copyright price of ASIAD 19 up to 15 million USD (360 billion VND), making Vietnamese television units "dizzy".
Recently, there was information that the Chinese partner decided to lower the price to 7 million USD, but this is still too high a price.
Secretary General of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Tran Van Manh said: "All Asian Games have television copyrights. The signing or working on television copyrights is done by units working directly with each other and these are the signings of economic contracts."
In Vietnam, up to this point, no TV station has agreed to spend about 160 billion VND to buy the television rights for ASIAD 19.
Thus, the opening match of the 19th ASIAD between the Vietnamese Olympic team and the Mongolian Olympic team at 3:00 p.m. on September 19 will most likely not be broadcast live on any channel in Vietnam.
In addition, the opening ceremony and the matches in 40 sports at the Games will not be broadcast live. This is a disadvantage for fans, but everyone shares with the broadcasters because the price offered by the partners is too high.
Previously, at the 18th ASIAD held in Indonesia 5 years ago, the television copyright was sold in Vietnam for less than 1.5 million USD. At that time, the Voice of Vietnam ( VOV ) was the exclusive buyer of the television copyright for the 18th ASIAD in Vietnam.
At the 2014 ASIAD held in Korea, the copyright of the congress was only sold for 200,000 USD.
The 19th Asian Games opened on September 23 and closed on October 8 in Hangzhou City (China), with the participation of 45 Asian countries and territories with about 12,000 athletes.
ASIAD 19 organizes 40 competitions with 61 disciplines, 483 events. This is the ASIAD with the most athletes participating in history.
The Vietnamese sports delegation participated with 504 members, including 337 athletes, 90 coaches, and 11 experts competing in 31/40 sports, 202/483 events of the congress and striving to win from 2 to 5 gold medals.
