According to the proposal, the Can Gio bridge project across the Soai Rap river connecting Nha Be district with Can Gio district has a total expected length of about 7 km, of which Can Gio bridge is about 3 km long, the rest is the approach road. The starting point of the project is on Highway 15B according to the plan, about 500 m north of Muong Ngang canal; the end point connects to Rung Sac road at Km2+100 on Rung Sac road (about 2.1 km south of Binh Khanh ferry). The project has a scale of 6 lanes (4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes), designed speed of 60 km/h. The Department of Transport plans to arrange an automatic toll station at about Km4+400 in Can Gio district.
The total preliminary investment of the project is about 11,087 billion VND, using the city budget (about 5,246 billion VND) and BOT capital of the investor (about 5,323 billion VND). The project will be divided into 3 component projects. Of which, 2 component projects 1 and 2 are the compensation, support, and resettlement parts on Nha Be and Can Gio sides using 100% of the state budget capital. Component project 3 is the construction and installation part with a value of about 8,341 billion VND.
If approved, the Department of Transport expects that from now until 2024, the project preparation period will be completed; compensation, support and resettlement will be implemented from 2024 - 2025. After that, the bidding will be organized to select investors and the project will start in 2025, completed in 2028. The toll collection period will start from 2028 - 2051.
