Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said about the implementation of projects, emphasizing that the city has been mobilizing all resources to complete on schedule, especially site clearance. Regarding the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, one of the national key projects passing through the area.
Up to now, compensation, support and resettlement work has reached over 80% of the volume. The city has also arranged enough land to build resettlement areas, ensuring stable lives for affected people.
At the meeting, representatives of departments and branches of Can Tho City also reported on difficulties in the implementation process, especially in human resources, construction capacity of some contractors and delays in disbursement of public investment capital.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City, the construction industry is focusing on synchronous planning, ensuring urban infrastructure connection with highways. At the same time, the city is speeding up the construction of resettlement areas with full social infrastructure such as schools and medical stations, to ensure social security for the people.
At the meeting, the Supervisory Delegation acknowledged the efforts of the city government in proactively removing difficulties. However, Deputy Head Le Quang Manh noted that the actual progress in some bidding packages and routes is still slow due to problems with land procedures, asset valuation and capital allocation.
Mr. Manh suggested that Can Tho City should coordinate more closely with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and relevant agencies to promptly remove obstacles, avoiding the situation where the project is prolonged, affecting the goal of developing regional infrastructure.
At the same time, highly appreciate the proactive and responsible spirit of Can Tho City in implementing key transport projects. Because transport infrastructure is the key factor to solve the development bottleneck of the Mekong Delta.
Therefore, Can Tho City needs to continue to promote its role as a regional driving force, closely monitoring the progress and quality of projects. At the same time, the working group pledged to synthesize recommendations and report to the National Assembly and the Government to find timely solutions to capital, investment procedures and inter-regional coordination mechanisms.
With high political determination and the support of the National Assembly, the Government, ministries and branches, Can Tho City aims to complete on schedule and put key transport projects into operation as soon as possible. These are not only important infrastructure projects, but also breakthrough driving forces, creating strong spillovers for the socio-economic development of the city and the entire Mekong Delta in the coming period.
