Details of Lunar New Year 2025 holiday schedule for civil servants and employees

In just over 20 days, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have the longest holiday of 2025 - the Lunar New Year. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs , civil servants, public employees, and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have the Lunar New Year holiday from Saturday, January 25 (ie December 26, Giap Thin year) to Sunday, February 2 (ie January 5, At Ty year). The holiday lasts 9 days, including 5 official Tet holidays and 4 weekly days off as prescribed in the Labor Code.

For the business sector, regarding this Lunar New Year holiday, the Ministry requires employers to decide to choose 1 of 3 holiday options. One is to take 1 day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and 4 days at the beginning of the year of At Ty. Two is to take 2 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and 3 days at the beginning of the year of At Ty. Three is to take 3 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and 2 days at the beginning of the year of At Ty. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requires agencies and units implementing the Lunar New Year holiday schedule to pay attention to arranging and reorganizing work departments reasonably, to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to the organization and the people. For agencies and units that do not implement a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday schedule every week, they will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable holiday schedule. Employers must notify employees of their Tet holiday plans 30 days in advance. If these holidays coincide with weekly days off, employees will be given compensatory days off on the following day.
