The incident occurred at a tourist spot in Tuyen Quang province (in the old Ha Giang province). Some people even put a skirt around their neck and posed ridiculously to record a video. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province has stepped in to rectify the situation.

This image quickly caused outrage, many opinions said that the above action was disrespectful, making fun of traditional costumes.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Hoai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province - said that after receiving information about the incident, the unit coordinated with relevant agencies to review the responsibilities of organizations and individuals to take corrective measures.

According to Ms. Hoai, this is a deviant behavior, damaging the cultural values of the community, going against the direction of civilized and sustainable tourism development that the province is aiming for.

“Traditional costumes of ethnic minorities are not props to make people laugh or attract views. The tourism industry does not encourage, and even more so, does not accept, any form of distortion or degradation of heritage in the name of experience,” she said.

Ha Giang province (old) issued a Code of Conduct for civilized tourism activities. After the merger, Tuyen Quang province continued to inherit and implement this content.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that in the coming time, the unit will strengthen communication, raise awareness for the community and tourists, and organize inspections and supervision of the implementation of the Code of Conduct at tourist destinations, ensuring civilized behavior and respect for the cultural identity of ethnic groups.
