The only resistance base of the Can Vuong movement in Quang Binh

On the evening of January 8, the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh Province held a ceremony to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the district's establishment (1875-2025) and the 35th anniversary of the district's re-establishment (1990-2025).

Minh Hoa District Party Secretary Bui Anh Tuan affirmed that the name Minh Hoa was determined since the reign of King Tu Duc in 1875, under Quang Trach prefecture. After 150 years of formation and development, Minh Hoa has become a familiar and affectionate name associated with many historical ups and downs.

Once the base of the Can Vuong resistance movement led by King Ham Nghi in the period of 1885-1888, Minh Hoa became a historical witness to the spirit of the army and people joining hands to fight against foreign invaders. In 1949, the country continued to mark Minh Hoa when this place held the 2nd Quang Binh Provincial Party Congress.

Minh Hoa has achieved remarkable achievements, budget revenue increased 35 times compared to 1990, economic growth rate reached 7%-8%/year. The material and spiritual life of the people has improved significantly.

Mr. Tran Hai Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that the event marked the maturity of Minh Hoa district in the journey of construction and development. Mr. Chau also requested the Party Committee, government and people in the district to continue promoting achievements, correctly identifying strategic breakthroughs based on available potential.

In addition, Minh Hoa district is assigned the task of continuing to maintain and develop the special solidarity and friendship between the people on both sides of the Vietnam - Laos border. Socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction along with preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of Minh Hoa land and people are considered important foundations in the new period.

On this occasion, Minh Hoa was honored to receive the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage with two special festivals: "Minh Hoa Full Moon Festival in March" and "Minh Hoa District's Singing and Blessings".
