After more than 20 months of construction, the T3 passenger terminal - Tan Son Nhat International Airport (TIA) invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has officially reached the finish line.

After more than 20 months of fierce construction "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "working through holidays and Tet", the T3 Passenger Terminal Construction Project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport invested by ACV has officially reached the finish line on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), completed 2 months ahead of schedule. The T3 Passenger Terminal project is a key project, playing a particularly important role in nearly doubling the operating capacity of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, contributing to the completion of traffic infrastructure and reducing congestion inside and outside the area.

The T3 Passenger Terminal Construction Project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport includes the main items: Passenger terminal, high-rise parking garage combined with non-aviation services, overpass system in front of the terminal and aircraft parking lot with a total investment of 10,990 billion VND.

The terminal is equipped with 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 automated baggage drop counters and 42 self-service check-in kiosks.

The passenger terminal has a scale of 1 basement and 4 floors above ground, with a total floor area of ​​112,500 m2. The terminal has a linear shape similar to the existing terminal, designed into 2 separate departure and arrival levels.

Terminal T3 has 90 traditional airline check-in counters, 20 automatic bagdrop counters and 42 check-in kiosks, 27 boarding gates (including 13 telescopic gates and 14 bus gates), 6 departure baggage handling islands and 10 arrival baggage return islands, and 25 passenger security control gates.

In particular, Terminal T3 is designed with 8 security control gates and a separate area to serve VIP, business class and priority guests.

The high-rise parking complex combined with non-aviation services is a complex of 2 basements and 4 upper floors with a total floor area of ​​130,000 m2, serving as a parking lot, shopping center, hotel, and restaurant serving passengers.

Passenger Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport deploys the use of many modern aviation technologies, focusing on passengers' experience from check-in to boarding.

With a construction period of 20 months, the investor ACV focused resources and organized the construction of the items, bringing the project to the finish line 2 months early and officially put into operation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.

The terminal has a total of 27 boarding gates, of which 13 are equipped with telescopic bridges, the remaining 14 serve passengers by bus.

Passenger Terminal T3 has a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, serving 7,000 passengers/peak hour, thus the total capacity of Tan Son Nhat International Airport will be increased to 50 million passengers/year, promising to bring more ventilation and convenience to passengers.

The lower level area, where passengers arrive and get their luggage, has a modern conveyor belt system.

Especially in the check-in process for passengers on domestic flights, the application of electronic chip-based CCCD cards and facial recognition helps reduce the risk of using fake documents, automatically detects and prevents banned passengers, and helps reduce overload at security control areas, compared to previous manual checks.

According to the plan, starting from April 19, flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Van Don operated by Vietnam Airlines will be transferred to Terminal T3. It is expected that by the end of April, all domestic flights of the airline will also be transferred to Terminal T3, except for flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, Ca Mau and Rach Gia, which will continue to operate at Terminal T1 as at present.
