In 2012, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong (born in 1968) began participating in trade union activities as Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Thach Huong Commune (old). In 2014, he held the position of Chairman of the Trade Union of Thach Huong Commune. In 2020, after Thach Huong Commune was merged into Tan Lam Huong Commune, Mr. Phong continued to be trusted to hold the position of Chairman of the Trade Union of the Commune.

Talking about his work, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong said: "Being a union official requires the most dedication and enthusiasm. The union is the spiritual support for union members, so I tell myself that I have the responsibility to listen to the thoughts and aspirations and find ways to resolve difficulties in work and life so that cadres, civil servants and workers can work with peace of mind and contribute."

To fulfill his role in gathering and mobilizing union members, Mr. Phong and the executive board spent a lot of time understanding the thoughts and aspirations of union members, promptly grasping the arising problems of union members. From there, he proactively proposed to the Party Committee and the commune government to quickly take measures to support and help union members.

Mr. Phong's active support helped Nhan Hoa village reach the Model New Rural Residential Area finish line in 2022.

Implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", Mr. Phong and the union members have taken on the responsibility of sponsoring and helping the villages in the area to build new rural areas. In 2022, with the help and support of the union members, Nhan Hoa village has reached the finish line of Model New Rural Residential Area. In 2023, Tan Lam Huong Commune Union continues to sponsor Tien Thuong and Yen Trung villages to build model New Rural residential areas.

To effectively accompany the people in building the new rural area, Mr. Phong has organized propaganda, mobilized and joined the people in implementing the new rural criteria such as: environment, house yard improvement; donated money, working days, materials to help poor households repair houses and build new houses...

Under the leadership of Mr. Phong, the commune union members have taken charge of 13 model gardens and a self-managed road of nearly 1,000m in length. The union members have actively taken the lead in donating land and construction to clear the ground for the movement to expand traffic routes...

Mr. Phong received the difficulties and problems of the union members and quickly found ways to resolve them.

To help union members feel secure in their work, in addition to regularly checking in, visiting, giving gifts, and promptly supporting union members in difficult circumstances, illness... every year, the Executive Committee of Tan Lam Huong Commune Union also advises the Party Committee and government to organize for cadres, civil servants, and workers to visit, learn from experiences, and make pilgrimages to red addresses...

The union also coordinates with the commune's Women's Union to organize meetings and give gifts to female workers on traditional days, creating conditions for female workers raising young children; coordinates with the youth union and women's union to organize sports, cultural and artistic activities... These activities have created a vibrant competitive atmosphere and attraction in movements, gathering union members to actively participate in emulation movements.

Tan Lam Huong Commune Union currently has 36 union members. As a commune with a large population (over 18,000 people), the work of officials, civil servants and workers is quite difficult, so Mr. Phong always tries to encourage and support union members so that they can work with peace of mind.

Under the leadership of Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, the emulation movement "Excellent workers, Creative workers" of Tan Lam Huong commune has achieved increasingly clear results. In the last 3 years alone, 9 initiatives and experiences of union members have been recognized. Many individuals and groups have been awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and the Chairman of the District People's Committee has awarded the title of excellent labor group...

With his positive contributions, from 2016 - 2019, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong was commended by the Chairman of the District People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in trade union activities; from 2020 - 2022, he received certificates of merit from the District Labor Federation, Provincial Labor Federation...
