Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts in Ho Chi Minh City have planned to rearrange communes and wards with the standard of achieving a rate of 50% or more.


Accordingly, Thu Duc City Propose a plan to arrange 34 wards into 9 grassroots administrative units, reducing 23 commune-level administrative units (67.64%); 5/9 new grassroots administrative units meet standards (55.55%).

Thu Duc City plans to arrange the remaining 9 administrative units.

For Thu Duc City, the wards are expected to be named Thu Duc 1 to Thu Duc 9. Each ward will merge from 2 to 6 existing wards.

Meanwhile, in District 1, it is expected to arrange 10 wards into 2 or 3 administrative units, reducing 7-8 wards. District 3 has 2 options to merge 10 wards into 1 or 2 wards, reducing 8-9 units. District 4 will be arranged into 2 wards A and B. Similarly, District 5 will also arrange from 10 wards to 2 wards An Dong and Dong Khanh.

District 6 plans to reorganize from 10 wards to 4 or 5 wards. District 7 reduces from 8 wards to 2 administrative units. District 8 has 2 options, merging 10 wards into 2 wards or merging 4 more communes of Binh Chanh district.

District 10 proposed to reorganize 11 wards into 2 or 3 units, named Vuon Lai, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Hoa Hung or Vuon Lai, Nguyen Tri Phuong. District 11 proposed to reorganize 10 wards into 2 or 3 units, including Dam Sen, Phu Tho, Phu Binh or Dam Sen and Phu Tho wards. District 12, from 11 wards, is expected to be reorganized into 3 or 4 units.

Binh Tan District reduced 7 wards, remaining 3 units: Binh Hung Hoa, An Lac, Tan Tao. Binh Thanh District reduced 11 wards, remaining 4 units: Gia Dinh, Binh Hoa, Thanh My Tay, Binh Quoi. Go Vap District reduced 9 wards, remaining wards of Go Vap, An Nhon, Thong Tay Hoi.

Phu Nhuan District will reduce 9 wards, leaving Duc Nhuan and Phu Nhuan wards. Tan Binh District will reduce 11-12 wards, expected to have 3 or 4 units. Tan Phu District will reduce 8 wards, expected to have 2 or 3 units, named Tan Phu, Tan Son Nhi, Phu Tho Hoa wards.

For Binh Chanh district, it is proposed to reduce 12 communes to 4 units including commune 1 (Vinh Loc A, Pham Van Hai), commune 2 (Vinh Loc B, Le Minh Xuan, Binh Loi), commune 3 (Tan Kien, Tan Nhut, An Phu Tay, Binh Chanh, Tan Quy and Tay Tan Tuc town), commune 4 (Binh Hung, Phong Phu, Da Phuoc, Hung Long, Qui Duc communes).

Can Gio district reduced from 7 communes and towns to 2 or 3 communes. Nha Be district reduced 5 communes, remaining 2 communes: Nha Be and Hiep Phuoc. Hoc Mon district reduced 10 communes, remaining 1 or 2 communes. Cu Chi district reduced 15 communes, remaining 6 communes.

According to the process, the Department of Home Affairs will synthesize and advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to make a plan to submit to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Previously, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that according to the national arrangement ratio, Ho Chi Minh City will have more than 80 communes and wards instead of 273 as at present.
