The opponent of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is the Philippines, a team that has lost all three previous matches. This time, the home team continued to show dominance over their opponents.

Almost only in set 1, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team started with the strongest lineup including Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Bich Thuy and libero Khanh Dang. Thanks to that, the team won overwhelmingly 25-14.

In the second set, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet withdrew some of his key players. The match became more balanced from then on. The Philippines even had a chance to win when leading 18-14.

However, the Vietnamese girls woke up and leveled the score at 19-19. From there, the two teams entered a tense tug-of-war. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was forced to bring Bich Tuyen back onto the field and her points helped the home team win dramatically 30-28.

In set 3, the Philippines continued to play a tight game. However, the Vietnamese team once again broke through at the decisive moment to win 25-22, thereby ending the match after 3 sets. Thus, this is the 4th time this year that the Vietnamese team has surpassed the Philippines.

In the previous match, the defending SEA V.League champion Thailand had no difficulty defeating Indonesia with the same score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21). This time, Thailand no longer played complacently but instead fielded their strongest lineup. Thanks to that, they dominated the entire match.
