The Ministry of Public Security said that the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship will be hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
The tournament aims to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open in Vietnam will take place from December 6 to December 9.
Competition venue at Quang Ninh province multi-purpose gymnasium.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the tournament's slogan is "Police power - Taekwondo police - Global citizen protectors".
The purpose of the tournament is to honor the solidarity of police taekwondo around the world, to strengthen and enhance the position of police taekwondo in Vietnam and the World Police Taekwondo Federation.
Besides, the tournament contributes to the efforts for the health, safety and happiness of people around the world, promoting patriotism and national spirit.
At the same time, the tournament also strengthens the position and image of the Vietnamese police force, developing high-performance sports in the Vietnam People's Public Security...
The Ministry of Public Security said the tournament has two competition categories:
2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship in Vietnam (participants are police officers and soldiers from Asian countries, men and women of all ages and weight categories.
Asian Police Taekwondo Festival in Vietnam (participants are children, teenagers, young people, and the elderly).

Competition events include sparring, boxing, breaking, freestyle, taekwondo gymnastics and team competition.
Initial statistics show that up to now, many police delegations from countries and territories in Asia have registered to participate in the tournament through the website of the World Police Taekwondo Federation.
“Through hosting the tournament, we hope to promote the culture and image of the country and the friendly, hospitable Vietnamese people.
"In addition, it also promotes Vietnam's cultural heritage, historical relics, and tourism products to international friends," emphasized Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh, General Secretary of the People's Public Security Sports Association.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said that the tournament held in Vietnam is a favorable opportunity to promote the image and affirm the bravery and talent of Vietnamese people in general and the officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Public Security in particular to international friends.
“This is also a good opportunity to strengthen friendly cooperation and encourage the improvement of the quality of sports training in general and taekwondo in particular between the Vietnam People's Public Security and the police forces of Asian countries,” said Deputy Minister Long.
