At noon on April 6 (one day before the Hung Kings' death anniversary), tens of thousands of tourists from all over the country flocked to the Hung Temple historical relic site (Viet Tri city, Phu Tho) to offer incense, have fun, and sightsee.
The road leading from Hung Temple Square to the foot of Nghia Linh Mountain is crowded with locals and tourists.
At the foot of Nghia Linh mountain, authorities set up barricades and divided traffic for people to move to temples, pagodas, relics, etc.
Because there were so many tourists flocking to the foot of Nghia Linh mountain, authorities had to divide the traffic into small groups so that people could go up the mountain one by one, to limit congestion.
Many people brought along offerings, food, pets... and joined the crowd going up Nghia Linh mountain to offer incense.
Many children appeared tired of having to follow their families through the crowd.
Authorities supported people, prioritizing children to get out of crowded areas.
The 300m long road up Nghia Linh mountain is almost full, people jostle and inch their way to wait to visit the Upper Temple and the Lower Temple.
Many adults and children tried to take a shortcut through the mountainside trail to escape the traffic jam.
Ms. Le Thi Nai (Hoa Binh province) and her family traveled by bus from 4am to Hung Temple, however, there were too many people going up the mountain, so her family waited temporarily at the foot of Nghia Linh mountain.
"The first time I visited Hung Temple, I woke up early to prepare, brought clothes, food and drinks from home because I was afraid it would be crowded and I wouldn't be able to buy anything. It was so crowded, I didn't know if I would make it to the temple to offer incense," said Ms. Nai.
Many people could not squeeze into the Upper, Middle, and Lower temples, so they had to burn incense and make offerings at the foot of the mountain.
Le Thanh Lam (blue shirt, from Ba Vi) after more than an hour of traveling to Nghia Linh mountain area, but could not continue because the road was completely blocked.
"My friend and I went from Ba Vi to Viet Tri to offer incense at Hung Temple. This morning, we climbed the mountain for more than an hour and only got 200m. When we got close to Thuong Temple, the traffic jam was too much, so we had to turn back. Hopefully, there will be fewer people in the afternoon, so we will try to go up again," Thanh Lam said.
At the foot of the mountain, thousands of people spread out tarps and mats to eat and rest after offering incense and sightseeing.
Recorded areas of roads such as Lac Hong, Lu Gia..., traffic jams at many points due to the sudden increase in the number of vehicles. Lu Gia road (entrance to Hung Temple side gate) was occupied and turned into a spontaneous car parking lot.
On Lac Hong Street (near the main gate of Hung Temple), traffic was also congested, and authorities had to increase their presence on the road to direct and regulate traffic.
According to Phu Tho Provincial Police, to ensure absolute security and order during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the 2025 Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week, the authorities have developed a plan and mobilized about 1,000 officers and soldiers to ensure the safety of events and visitors.
In addition, the unit deployed additional forces to set up 200 checkpoints on roads and areas in the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site and neighboring areas such as Viet Tri City, Phu Ninh District, and Lam Thao.
