Suspect arrested for murdering taxi driver

Hanoi City Police arrested Nguyen Duy Phuong (born in 1983, residing in Ha Bang commune, Thach That district, Hanoi) to investigate the murder.

According to the investigation, on the morning of September 7, Mr. PQT (born in 1982, residing in Quoc Oai district, Hanoi, taxi driver) went to pick up passengers. After that, the family could not contact Mr. T. Due to the impact of storm No. 3, it was not until the morning of September 8 that Mr. T.'s family searched and discovered Mr. T.'s car in Sen Phuong commune, Phuc Tho district.

Immediately upon receiving information from Mr. T.'s family, the Phuc Tho District Police and Mr. T.'s family searched the surrounding area and discovered Mr. T.'s body on the edge of the Day River. Through examining the scene, the forensic pathologist suspected that Mr. T. had been murdered.

At around 5:30 a.m. on September 10, Phuc Tho District Police coordinated with the Criminal Police of Hanoi City Police to discover and arrest the suspect who murdered Mr. T., Nguyen Duy Phuong. Working with the police, Phuong admitted his crime.

Through that, it was determined that on the morning of September 7, Phuong walked to the intersection of Quoc Oai town and met Mr. PQT's taxi. Phuong hired Mr. T. to take her to Phu Cuong commune, Ba Vi district to meet relatives.

When approaching Van Lang bridge (Ba Vi district), Phuong sat behind and took a rope and put it around T's neck and tightened it. Seeing T's death, Phuong dragged the victim's body onto the back seat and drove T's car around, looking for a deserted place to hide and dispose of the victim's body.

At around 2 p.m. the same day, the subject arrived at the Cam Dinh - Hiep Thuan Ecological Project area in Vong Xuyen commune, Phuc Tho district. Seeing that the area was deserted, Phuong turned onto a dirt road and the car got stuck in the mud, the car battery ran out of power. Phuong got out of the car and asked the locals to help find a tow truck.

While waiting for the car, the suspect rummaged through the victim’s body and took about 3 million VND. After that, Phuong dragged the victim’s body to the water’s edge of the Day River and used dry branches and leaves on the bank to cover it up to avoid detection.

About 30 minutes later, Phuong asked someone to pull the car out of the swamp and help Phuong start the engine. The driver drove around looking for a place to hide the car, but when he reached the Phung Thuong - Long Xuyen inter-commune road, the car slid down the edge of the field. Due to the heavy rain and storm, unable to find a tow truck, the driver locked the car and went to find a nearby motel to sleep.

On the morning of September 8, Phuong hired someone to pull the car up and drove it to village 14, Sen Phuong commune and parked it next to the old headquarters of the Phuong Do commune People's Committee. After that, Phuong abandoned the car and went home. After eating, Phuong bought 5 liters of gasoline and returned to the car parking lot (Sen Phuong commune, Phuc Tho district) to burn the car to destroy the evidence.

When he got close to the destination, Phuong saw many people and police standing around the car so he left. After that, Phuong took a bus to Cao Bang . When he arrived in Cao Bang, Phuong took a bus back to Hanoi and then returned to Thach That district. In the early morning of September 9, Phuong was arrested by the police.
